Acclaimed author Michael J. Sullivan created instant best sellers with his spellbinding Riyria Revelations series. This first volume introduces Royce Melborn and Hadrian Blackwater, two enterprising thieves who end up running for their lives when they’re framed for the death of the king. Trapped in a conspiracy bigger than they can imagine, their only hope is unraveling an ancient mystery - before it’s too late.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would and have. It grows on you all the way through until you're completely hooked!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Theft of Swords?

There are so many! The interplay between the lead characters is addictive. Harshness and humor so brilliantly mixed.

What does Tim Gerard Reynolds bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I wasn't sure about Tim's narration at first, but it grew on me quickly. I can't imagine any other talent for this story now.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Not sure, but I'd change the title. "Theft of Swords" really doesn't do it justice.

    Any additional comments?

Such well-developed, multi-dimensional characters! It gave the story richness to have continued exposition of all key characters.

On the holiday of Wintertide, the New Empire plans to burn the Witch of Melengar and force the Empress into a marriage of their own design. But they didn’t account for Royce and Hadrian finally locating the Heir of Novron—or the pair’s desire to wreak havoc on the New Empire’s carefully crafted scheme.

Would you listen to Heir of Novron again? Why?

I would. It's so well written that I feel like I'm close to Royce and Hadrian. I miss them already.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Could be Hadrian or Royce. Both such rich, multi-dimensional characters. Both skillful and what they do. Both always true to themselves. Both searching for meaning in their lives.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I can't possibly narrow this down. If you read this, you'll see what I mean. Such a great adventure!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Not sure I can pick the tag line, but I know it'd rival Game of Thrones on screen!

    Any additional comments?

I stumbled across this series by accident. How luck I was!

Michael J Sullivan - you are a genious! Such complex yet elegant plot. Such rich characters. Just a great story. Thank you.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have recommended it. I've even gifted it. It is the perfect book 2 of a series. By the end I wanted more. A great read!!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Rise of Empire?

Where can I begin?! There are so many! The whole book is a wonderful journey through developing plot with skillful character exposition.

What does Tim Gerard Reynolds bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

It turns out that Tim is the perfect narrator of this series!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were a few. "Human" moments. Some on the core storyline and some seemingly side stories. I feel like I really know Royce and Hadrian well.

    Any additional comments?

I didn't want to start the 3rd and final book too soon, as I didn't want it all to end.

Would you consider the audio edition of Catching Fire to be better than the print version?

Honestly not sure. Maybe it would have been better to read it.

What three words best describe Carolyn McCormick’s voice?

    Breathy, feminine, American

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No. Happy that I read/listened to it though.

    Any additional comments?

The story is OK. Bit of a cross between Running Man and Reality TV, and risked becoming not much more than a complicated romance. A more strong-voiced narrator might have made it seem a little more serious though.
