I am married ( 26 years and counting!), I have two children a boy 16 and a girl 21. I love reading, gardening, knitting, art! People who say they would be bored when they retire just don't know themselves very well! I, on the other hand can't wait to have the time to do more of the things I truly love! Maybe write a book, a dream I have always had of doing!

In this first collaboration by science fiction masters Larry Niven (Ringworld) and Gregory Benford (Timescape), the limits of wonder are redrawn once again as a human expedition to another star system is jeopardized by an encounter with an astonishingly immense artifact in interstellar space: a bowl-shaped structure half-englobing a star, with a habitable area equivalent to many millions of Earths…and it’s on a direct path heading for the same system as the human ship.

Maybe this is one of those books that is better to read than listen to! I could not even finish the book! In my opinion save your credit for something better, I wish I had! I am going to ask for a refund!

The Zombie War came unthinkably close to eradicating humanity. Max Brooks, driven by the urgency of preserving the acid-etched first-hand experiences of the survivors from those apocalyptic years, traveled across the United States of America and throughout the world, from decimated cities that once teemed with upwards of 30 million souls, to the most remote and inhospitable areas of the planet.

At once wildly original and stuffed with irresistible nostalgia, Ready Player One is a spectacularly genre-busting, ambitious, and charming debut—part quest novel, part love story, and part virtual space opera set in a universe where spell-slinging mages battle giant Japanese robots, entire planets are inspired by Blade Runner, and flying DeLoreans achieve light speed.

I love Star Trek! I remember when pong was THE game, Pac Man was the game to beat! This story takes place in the future where people almost live out their lives in a virtual reality game. The creator of this life has died a very rich man and alone, he however leaves a gift of unbelievable wealth for anyone who can solve the mystery of the hidden keys in his virtual world! The creator loved Pac Man, Star Trek and the like because that is the world he grew up in and so his game refers back to those days. Wil Wheaton is a great reader, I think in fact I like him much better as an audible reader than I did as a television actor!

Meet Harold Fry, recently retired. He lives in a small English village with his wife, Maureen, who seems irritated by almost everything he does, even down to how he butters his toast. Little differentiates one day from the next. Then one morning the mail arrives, and within the stack is a letter addressed to Harold from a woman he hasn't seen or heard from in 20 years. Queenie Hennessy is in hospice and is writing to say goodbye. Harold pens a quick reply and, leaving Maureen to her chores, heads to the corner mailbox. But then Harold has a chance encounter, one that convinces him that he absolutely must deliver his message to Queenie in person.

Have you ever had one of those days were you just wanted to get in your car and drive away and lose the world and the responsibility and the sameness of everyday? I have, and so did Harold Fry! It is a story of love found, love lost and found again but in a way that was unintended! It is a story of the unfairness of life at times and the surprise kindness we forget we had at others. It is about healing of a soul! Great story, you will feel yourself cheering for Harold and crying for him too! I want to make my own Pilgrimage!

Budo is lucky as imaginary friends go. He's been alive for more than five years, which is positively ancient in the world of imaginary friends. But Budo feels his age, and thinks constantly of the day when eight-year-old Max Delaney will stop believing in him. When that happens, Budo will disappear. Max is different from other children. Some people say that he has Asperger’s Syndrome, but most just say he’s "on the spectrum". None of this matters to Budo, who loves Max and is charged with protecting him from the class bully, from awkward situations in the cafeteria, and even in the bathroom stalls. But he can’t protect Max from everyone.

I enjoyed this book from beginning to the end. What is life without our imagination? Boring and dull! Without the ability to "talk to ourselves" we might go crazy! I can relate to Max, I too had a stressful event as a child and my ability to be somewhere else in my mind spared me the pain of the moment! Reading does that for me now, it takes me away! Great book! Well read!

Already cited on the floor of Congress and discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a book all Americans should read, One Second After is the story of a war scenario that could become all too terrifyingly real. Based upon a real weapon - the Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) - which may already be in the hands of our enemies, it is a truly realistic look at the awesome power of a weapon that can destroy the entire United States.

This is a story of what the world faces after nuclear weapon is detonated 2 miles above the United States causing an electric magnetic pulse (EMP). People, buildings and landmasses are left in tact but all modern conviences are destroyed. Life quickly becomes a nightmare. After reading this book I am taking this threat seriously ! If nothing happens wonderful , if it does at least I have a plan! Even though this book has many sad moments it also gives us moments of hope!

First, the unthinkable: a security breach at a secret U.S. government facility unleashes the monstrous product of a chilling military experiment. Then, the unspeakable: a night of chaos and carnage gives way to sunrise on a nation, and ultimately a world, forever altered. All that remains for the stunned survivors is the long fight ahead and a future ruled by fear—of darkness, of death, of a fate far worse.

Starts out good, so you will keep listening! This book is so disjointed and long! If you want to spend 22 hours hoping it will make sense and get better it won't ! The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because I could not unclick 2 of them it was an accident, just like the purchase of this book!

I stayed with this book, thinking it would get better, but in the end it was a very big disappointment! I just never understood the story line, maybe it would have been more meaningful if I had been raised in Japan. Way too much sex and the sex never made sense to the story it was just weird! Sorry I spent my credits on it!

On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

This book took place six months before I was born, what a world I was born into and how scary it must have been for my parents! It is a amazing trip back in time to a world where my life began and never realizing growing up how close to disaster we were many times! How many times have I wondered "if only that would not have happened..." This is only the second book by Stephen King I have read, truely he is more than a writer of horror, what a great writer he is! What a treat at the end to hear King speak of his book!
