  • Night Pleasures: A Dark-Hunter Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 12 mins)
    • By Sherrilyn Kenyon
    • Narrated By Carrington MacDuffie

In Night Pleasures, Kyrian of Thrace - an immortal who protects humans from vampires - wakes up one morning handcuffed to the one thing that can scare him: a conservative woman in a button-down shirt. But Amanda Devereaux turns out to be his perfect partner for hunting down a deadly foe, and for helping him to regain his soul and learn that love doesn't have to bite.

    Erich says: "REALLY!!??"
    "Give us more "Hunter" books!"

This is my favorite fantasy/romance series. I have read all of Sherrilyn Kenyon's "Hunter" books and I was thrilled to find some of the earlier books (that made me a devoted fan of hers) on Audio. If you like this genre don't hesitate. You won't be sorry. Pretty soon you will be collecting all of the "Hunter" books you can find.

Moon, once a solitary wanderer, has become consort to Jade, sister queen of the Indigo Cloud court. Together, they travel with their people on a pair of flying ships in hopes of finding a new home for their colony. Moon finally feels like he’s found a tribe where he belongs. But when the travelers reach the ancestral home of Indigo Cloud, shrouded within the trunk of a mountain-sized tree, they discover a blight infecting its core.

Magdalena says: "Wow - An original universe"
"Excellent Series. Eagerly awaiting the next book."
What made the experience of listening to The Serpent Sea the most enjoyable?

I loved the story but the narration and production was very well done. I would have to say the whole package!

What did you like best about this story?

It's different and thanks to the author's talent this "world" is not too complex to understand.

What about Christopher Kipiniak’s performance did you like?

That I totally forgot I was listening to an audio book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Any additional comments?

  • The Dark Age: The Ancient Future Trilogy, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (19 hrs and 40 mins)
    • By Traci Harding
    • Narrated By Edwina Wren
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Late one evening, en route to visit a relative, an accident leaves Tory - the attractive, twenty-something daughter of a prominent history professor – stranded near a ring of stones in Britain. Tory resolves to spend the night at the stone circle and seek help in the morning... But across the vortex of time and space, she is taken back to the Dark Age.

Gavin says: "One of the best beginnings to a superb trillogy!"

I am disappointed. A friend said they loved this author and highly recommended this book.
I am half way through the audiobook and I feel like I still don't have a good feel for the story line. Either there are portions missing or the author failed to build a good foundation for the rest of the story. I don't know if I can stick it out to the end.

I think the narration could be better as well. The narrator is ok but her presentation of this story is not very appealing.

But where one chapter ends, a final, unseen battle remains to be written, and Jaenelle must unleash the terrible power that is Witch to destroy her enemies once and for all.Even so, she cannot stand alone. Somewhere, long lost in madness, is Daemon, her promised Consort.

    margaret says: "Enthralling"

I recommend this book and the Black Jewels series to anyone who likes well written fantasy. You won't be disappointed. I waited until the whole series (to date) was released in audio and started with book 1 (recommended) and listened to all of the books in order. I was absolutly enthralled. Anne Bishop just became my favorite author.
John Sharian is outstanding as a narrator of this series. He does a wonderful job with all of the different voices/characters but deserves special notice for his depiction of the High Lord and Daemon. Thanks for this great audio production!!

  • Urban Shaman: The Walker Papers, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 12 mins)
    • By C.E. Murphy
    • Narrated By Christine Carroll
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Joanne Walker has three days to learn to use her shamanic powers and save the world from the unleashed Wild Hunt.

Melissa says: "Urban Shaman - Light Fantasy"
    "Not for me."

The plot in this book shows worlds of promise. The plot and the scant humor is all I liked about this book. The writing reflected an immaturity that almost put me to sleep during the more dramatic parts of the book. And....I am really tired of hearing THAT four letter word so much. A little bit to create mood or character goes a long way.

  • Dangerous Tides

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 43 mins)
    • By Christine Feehan
    • Narrated By Alyssa Bresnahan

In Dangerous Tides, Dr. Libby Drake uses her incredible healing powers to help mend the emotionally scarred Ty Derrick. But their burgeoning relationship is threatened by a mysterious man who wants to use Libby's talents for his own dark purposes.

    donna says: "Donna"
    "Good. I liked this book."

Dangerous Tides continues the story of the "magical sisters". I enjoyed this book as I have the others preceding it in the series. In this genre Christine Feehan is one of the best at keeping the reader's attention. I am puzzled as always when a series type audio book comes out in the middle of the series. If it is a book I like then I am compelled to go out and buy the other books at the bookstore instead of buying the audio version. Hmmmm.
