All the Pretty Horses, the first volume of the Borders Trilogy, tells of young John Grady Cole, the last of a long line of Texas ranchers. Across the border Mexico beckons; beautiful and desolate, rugged and cruelly civilized. With two companions, he sets off on an idyllic, sometimes comic adventure, to a place where dreams are paid for in blood.

WOW! This book is absolutely deserving of the National Book Award. It is not a "western" but a passage. These characters' journeys are physical and spiritual and lead the reader through a space which surpasses time and borders. John Grady Cole is a monumental character. If you love great prose and purposeful storytelling, you will adore this book. It ranks in my top five. Cormac McCarthy may be the greatest of our modern authors.

Based on more than 40 interviews with Jobs conducted over two years—as well as interviews with more than a hundred family members, friends, adversaries, competitors, and colleagues—Walter Isaacson has written a riveting story of the roller-coaster life and searingly intense personality of a creative entrepreneur whose passion for perfection and ferocious drive revolutionized six industries: personal computers, animated movies, music, phones, tablet computing, and digital publishing.

I have listened to thousands of hours of audiobooks, and this ranks close to the best. The narration is just ok, but it doesn't matter. The content is fascinating. This man and his ideas truly changed the way we/I live everyday. Thank you Steve Jobs for never settling for second best. As I downloaded this book on my Mac, listened to it on my Ipad nano, told all of my friends about it on my Iphone and reviewed it on my Ipad, without any error messages, without any unwanted software that I have to pay a "geek" to remove, without any freezes or viruses, I am indebted to this man and the exquisite talent he gathered. Thanks Mr. Isaacson for helping me appreciate the collective genius responsible for it!!
