Young Ajax Penumbra has not arrived in San Francisco looking for free love or a glimpse of the technological future. He is seeking a book: the single surviving copy of the Techne Tycheon, a mysterious volume that has brought and lost great fortune for anyone who has owned it. The last record of the book locates it in the San Francisco of more than a century earlier, and on that scant bit of evidence, Penumbra's university has dispatched him west to acquire it for their library.

On Big Sawyer island, life is as steady as the routine of the lobstermen who leave with the tide each morning and return with their haul each night. But for 40-year-old New Yorker Julia Bechtel, life and what’s important in it are about to be forever altered when she survives a terrible boat accident en route to the island. Now, in the company of her aunt and daughter, Julia finds herself feeling strangely connected to the tragedy’s other survivors - Noah, a divorced lobsterman, and Kim, a young woman rendered mute since her rescue - and newly outraged at the state of her marriage....

After the presidential party has gone, Daniel discovers that Mitterrand’s black felt hat has been left behind. Lacey Terwilliger's shock and humiliation over her husband's philandering prompt her to add some bonus material to Mike's company newsletter: stunning Technicolor descriptions of the special brand of "administrative support" his receptionist gives him. The detailed mass e-mail to Mike's family, friends, and clients blows up in her face, and before one can say "instant urban legend", Lacey has become the pariah of her small Kentucky town and a media punch line....

What made the experience of listening to And One Last Thing... the most enjoyable?

Amanda Ronconi captured the characters and made the story flow from the first word. The story itself is a typical lighthearted romance but also has a subplot of a woman who learns to stand up for herself. Molly Harper weaves a wonderful tale told in a kind and humorous voice that left me feeling as if I knew the characters and would probably meet them in town.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I wanted to savor it.

    Any additional comments?

Watching Lacey become assertive was an unusual twist that added warmth and depth to the story. It is one of those rare 'light' books that I will probably read/listen to again.
