If you could sum up The Bastard in three words, what would they be?

    Lucky little Bastard

What other book might you compare The Bastard to and why?

None that I have listen to so far.

Which character – as performed by Marc Vietor – was your favorite?

    Philippe Charboneau

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

How to find your way in the world, when your father is a lord.

    Any additional comments?

I listen to a lot of audio books and most are disappointing for one reason or another. This book however, really caught my interest and kept it all the way to the end.The young man is a natural born fighter, but spends his life worrying about money and wondering what to do with his life, the answer is staring him in the face and I think a lot of people are that way.I really think this is a book suited to men. It's not a romance novel, more blood and guts and historical intrigue than fluffy pillows.I can't wait for the next book and I hope the quality of the writing remains consistent.

    >When South African conservationist Lawrence Anthony was asked to accept a herd of "rogue" wild elephants on his Thula Thula game reserve in Zululand, his common sense told him to refuse. But he was the herd's last chance of survival: they would be killed if he wouldn't take them. In order to save their lives, Anthony took them in. In the years that followed he became a part of their family. And as he battled to create a bond with the elephants, he came to realize that they had a great deal to teach him about life, loyalty, and freedom.

A patriot soldier in the ragtag Continental army, Philip Kent defies the rule of the British crown, fighting for the future of his adopted American homeland and the future of his wife and newborn son. And when Philip's heroism draws the attention of General George Washington, he is sent on an overwhelmingly risky mission vital to the success of the Revolution. But no sacrifice is too great for freedom . . .

What did you like best about The Rebels? What did you like least?

A riveting piece of historical literature.
A story about a useless, good for nothing drunk, which drove me nuts.
Anne's story shocked me and made me sad.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Talk more about the historical significance of the war and how it affected society as a whole instead of just a few people.

Have you listened to any of Marc Vietor’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

The same high performance as the last time I listened to him.

Do you think The Rebels needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No I think author struggled with the material as it is.

    Any additional comments?

About 65% of the book focussed on the daily nightmare that was life of a common drunk and how he tortured himself and the people around him, I got really fed up with the whole thing- I hope the next book is better.
