This short thriller takes Joe Ledger into the mysterious, troubled town of Pine Deep, Pennsylvania, the setting for Maberry’s chilling Pine Deep Trilogy. In Pine Deep, nothing is what it seems.

Mayhem. You won't find this story on television. Hollywood gets more than it bargained for when television's hottest star arrives at the Miami Police Department and develops an intense, professional interest in a camera-shy blood spatter analyst named Dexter Morgan. Mega-star Robert Chase is famous for losing himself in his characters. When he and a group of actors descend on the Miami Police Department for "research", Chase becomes fixated on Dexter Morgan, the blood spatter analyst with a sweet tooth for doughnuts and a seemingly average life.

What would have made Dexter's Final Cut better?

The whole book was disappointing , I kept waiting for the jarring places to resolve themselves.

What could Jeff Lindsay have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Definitely given a better ending. So what, every character in the group is bleeped?

    Any additional comments?

I was very disappointed and let down.

Ninth in the series, Undead and Unfinished finds Vampire Queen Betsy Taylor slogging her way through the Book of the Dead. When Lucifer offers to give up all the book’s secrets, Betsy is intrigued. But there’s a catch, of course. For her part of the bargain, Betsy must take her half-sister, Laura, to Hell, so Laura can develop an appreciation for her dark heritage.

    Overall

I listened again from the future sequence to the end. Wes Craven is noted for disturbing endings to his work, and I still don't have to like his endings either. I am so betrayed feeling that if this is not the last in this series it probably is for me. How do you salvage something so utterly destroyed? I feel ripped off for buying the entire series only to have it ruined by this books epilogue. It is especially frustrating because in the opening of one book the author thanks her readers for making her financially solvent. Boy do I feel stupid, maybe I should have spent the money on lottery tickets instead of being a loyal listener. All endings can't be sunshine and roses happily everafter, but why did you waste my time and money on such an extremely unsatisfactory ending? As a dare to see if we sheep will still buy another book after being so betrayed? Should've listened to the reviews after all, so it is my fault for not doing so.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Gaiman’s not just an award-winning author, but a narrator who earns rave reviews – and fields requests from other authors to perform their books, too! Nobody Owens, known to his friends as Bod, is a normal boy. He would be completely normal if he didn't live in a sprawling graveyard, being raised and educated by ghosts, with a solitary guardian who belongs to neither the world of the living nor of the dead....

I heard the interview with the author on XM, and was intrigued. Well worth the listen. Fresh and definitely a new idea.Glad he lived next door to such a wonderful tricycle run.
