In the fall of 1984, high school students Amanda Collier and Dawson Cole fell deeply, irrevocably in love. Though they were from opposite sides of the tracks, their love for one another seemed to defy the realities of life in the small town of Oriental, North Carolina. But as the summer of their senior year came to a close, unforeseen events would tear the young couple apart, setting them on radically divergent paths.

This is the first book I have read from Nicholas Sparks. WOW was I unimpressed. I could predict the plot for the ENTIRE book. It was painfully predictable. I couldn't sympathize with any of the characters, because they were just so pathetic. I would go along listeniung to the narration and think it wasn't bad then boom... I would get struck with the narrator trying to talk like a Southern woman and doing a really poor job of it. If you like this author I imagine all of his stuff is probably about the same.. and I did finish the book.... which says something... but I won't be reading anything else by this author.

Adrian's piecemeal life on campus since "That Day" has been a struggle. Retrieving supplies from local neighborhoods filled with the walking dead has been dangerous for him, but he's stayed alive by being a little smarter than the other survivors, and a lot faster than the roaming, hungry zombies that have overtaken his home town, and the world.

I've read several books in the Zombie Fallout series and have enjoyed them very much. However, I didn't have anxiety about what was going to happen next when I wasn't able to listen. I have a rule and I only listen to audio books in the car or at the gym. I broke my own rules with this series for the first time ever. With A.U.D I couldn't stop. I mean.. I couldn't stop at all..... I listened in bed at night and set my timer... first for 8 minutes... than 15.. than 1/2 an hour... then another half hour.. I couldn't help myself. I had to know what happened next. I had to listen at work the next day. I couldn't stand not knowing. And kids... this book is not really approrpiate for "most" work scenario's.

Chris Philbrook has a way of making you care and feel the same way about the characters in the book that Adrian does. Including Adrian. I'm totally engrossed. I reallize this review doens't tell you about the actual book... but all you really need to know is that these books are worth the credit and then some.

For the first time, the Internet phenomenon is now in print! Beheading a zombie isn't easy in a world where you're more afraid of the living than the dead. Adrian Ring's simple life is thrown into chaos when the world is ripped apart by a plague of undead and legions of desperate survivors. Retreating to Auburn Lake Preparatory Academy, Adrian attempts to rescue friends and family on the way while dancing around his impending insanity over who and what he left behind, and evading maniac survivors.

This might be my favorite zombie book yet. I wasn't sure how it would play out with it being a journal entry... but it's awesome. It's like a zombie book if zombie's were real. No crazy fights where the guy shouldn't live, but does. It's almost like a manual for the apocolypse. I loved this book. My only complaint is that it was too short. I'm downloading the next book in the series now. I totally recommend this book whether you are a guy or a girl. Yay!

I feel a little bit bad not giving it 5 stars, but I think a book has to be earth shattering for that... definitely a GREAT read, though.

There was a time when geeky, squeaky-clean Max Kilgore would never lie or steal or even think about murder. Then he accidentally unearths a devil, and Max's choices are no longer his own. The big red guy has a penchant for couch surfing and junk food - and you should never underestimate evil on a sugar high.

LOVED this book. I usually just listen to my books in the car or at the gym, but I took this book with me into work and listened at home. The humor was awesome and the narrator was incredible, but the story itself was funny, refreshing and very unexpected. I didn't think this book had it in it to take the dark place that it went at the end with all of the humor, but it did and it really worked. I feel like I actually learned a lesson and I can't stop thinking about the message, whether it was implied or not.

Super funny, very witty and the best book I have read (listened to) in a very long time. Fast paced and fun, but very thought provoking..... for me anyway.

This reminded me a lot of The Sookie Stackhouse Series. It's a light listen with the same narrator as the Sookie Stackhouse series. It's kind of fun, sort of silly, somewhat predictable, but I enjoyed it for the most part. I might listen to the second book in the series after listening to something heavy. It's worth the credit :-)

I really, really wanted to LOVE this book, but I didn't. It fell really flat for me. I know lots of people loved it and I wanted ot be one of them, but just wasn't. I never felt a connection to any of the character's. I never really cared if anything bad happened to them after Jamie grew up and after... well.. the pastor stopped preaching at his first preaching job. I think this book may have a lot of appeal and may very well touch many deeply, it just didn't "touch" me in in the way that I had hoped. That being said.. I finished the book yesterday and had a bad dream about a little door last night... so you be your own judge. ;-)

Back on the job after an involuntary leave of absence, LAPD homicide detective Harry Bosch is ready for a challenge. But his first case is a little more than he bargained for. It starts with the body of a Hollywood producer in the trunk of a Rolls-Royce, shot twice in the head at close range - what looks like "trunk music", a Mafia hit.

Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in "The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas". As her family lay dying, little Libby fled their tiny farmhouse into the freezing January snow. She lost some fingers and toes, but she survived, and famously testified that her 15-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. I used to work for the Telepath’s Guild before they kicked me out for a drug habit that wasn’t entirely my fault. Now I work for the cops, helping Homicide Detective Isabella Cherabino put killers behind bars. My ability to get inside the twisted minds of suspects makes me the best interrogator in the department. But the normals keep me on a short leash. When the Tech Wars ripped the world apart, the Guild stepped up to save it. But they had to get scary to do it - real scary.

This story reminded me a lot of Harry Dresden in the Dresden Files. It was a good book, not a great book, but definitely worth the credit. Sometimes the women's voices just weren't working for me, but the male voices were great. It's defintely something you can overcome. I will listen to more books from this author and continue on with the series. It was worth it.

Who could forget the sexy "Cherry Pie" girl from hair metal band Warrant's infamous music video? Bobbie Brown became a bona fide vixen for her playful role as the object of lead singer Jani Lane's desires. With her windblown peroxide mane, seductive scarlet lips, and flirtatious curves, she epitomized every man's fantasy. But the wide-eyed Louisiana beauty queen's own dreams of making it big in Los Angeles were about to be derailed by her rock-and-roll lifestyle.

I'm embarrassed to say I had really low expectations for this book, but thought it would be a fun read anyway remembering my own days on the Sunset Strip. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. I usually can't stand it when the author is the narrator. This book is the absolute exception to this rule. Bobbie Brown did a phenomenal job narrating this. You felt like you were right there with her. I think she's missed her calling. I would listen to her as a narrator on other books as well. She was THAT good.

As for the story... where to begin? I have no clue how she managed to pack so much into less than 6 hours. She found a way to make the stories fun and at times gut wrenching, too. You really felt like a friend of hers living it with her. Also, I can't say she threw anyone under the bus really. YES she spread dirt on many a "dirty rocker boy," but not in such a way as to make you feel like she sold anyone out. She spoke her mind about some of the different nasty girls from Hollywood, but I never felt like it was a cheap shot. I'm pretty sure I'll have to read this one again.

My only complaint.... is that the book was too short. I would have gladly listened to another 6 hours :-)
