It’s not that Micayla Lange is afraid of the clinking she hears coming from the first floor of the empty McMansion she’s housesitting for her uncle Nicco. She’s a cop, after all. It’s just that finding out her boyfriend was cheating on her was enough drama for one night. Now she’s alone on New Year’s Eve, wearing flannel pajamas and wielding a Glock 22 as she zeroes in on the unmistakable source of the sound: Uncle Nicco’s private office.

Nors Roberts is my favorite author, but this is my least favorite of her books. It reminded me of abForest Gump history of Rock and Roll. I figured it out early in the story and it was way too long and predictable. It's the first time I've been disappointed in one of her books.

When rookie lawyer Jessica Ford gets the call from her boss, John Davenport, the senior partner at the illustrious law firm for which she works, she can tell he is well on his way to being drunk. He needs Jess to meet First Lady Annette Cooper, for whom Davenport is a personal lawyer, at a Washington, D.C., hotel. Jess is thrilled: this high-profile assignment must mean that she's earned her boss's trust and she's on her way to bigger things. But unfortunately, bigger isn't always better.

    What disappointed you about Pursuit?

The narrator fluctuated her voice too much. It would be so quiet that you'd need to turn up the volume just to hear it. Also, the voice she used for Mark Ryan made him sound like a 90 year old hillbilly.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Franette Liebow?

    Angela Dawe or Joyce Bean

    Any additional comments?

I loved the book... just hated the presentation!

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

From the vivid opening vista, high in craggy mountains, to the final haunting glimpse of a moonlit canyon, Nevada Barr's first mystery, Track of the Cat, instantly caught the attention of readers and reviewers. Its popularity gained it both an Agatha and an Anthony Award.

Ilze says: "A Trek through the Guadalupes"
    "I found the narrator boring"
    Overall

This was my first Nevada Barr book. The story was ok and I will probably try another of her books, but the narrator was way to dramatic and boring. She would even take long pauses between chapters and I thought at first that my ipod had died.

In the murky shadows of an alley lies a female’s severed hand. On the tenement rooftop above is the corpse belonging to that hand, a red-haired woman dressed all in black, the body nearly decapitated. Two strands of silver hair — not human — cling to her body. They are Rizzoli’s only clues, but they’re enough for her and medical examiner Maura Isles to make a startling discovery: This violent death had a chilling prequel.

Barbara Ferrini Hilfiker says: "somewhat disappointing"
    "I thought it was Great"
    Overall

I really liked this book. I enjoyed the Chinese history and the new character introduced. Tess Gerritsen has another success!
