Now, brought to life for the first time, here is the full story of that glorious, doomed conflict.

I was weiry of this title bought it strickly on reviews and that i had a 10 hour drive ahead of me and needed a book to get me through it. im a fan of military sci fi but im often turned off by the endless model numbers and specs some authors like to give. i would compare this to star wars books but better. they build up the characters in a way that you like them and stay interested in the development and take through a story that makes it so you can wait for the next book.

The alien forces known as the Lankies are gathering on the solar system's edge, consolidating their conquest of Mars and setting their sights on Earth. The far-off colony of New Svalbard, cut off from the rest of the galaxy by the Lanky blockade, teeters on the verge of starvation and collapse. The forces of the two Earth alliances have won minor skirmishes but are in danger of losing the war.

I enjoy this series the story is constant. I also like references to other books in the series and the relation ships that's come and go. The narrator really is solid. It's a good series if you like good action and a straight forward plot. Not to technical sci fi.

After almost a century of peaceful exploration and colonization of space, the United Earth Space Force stumbles across a shockingly xenophobic alien race that has more and better armed ships and refuses all attempts at contact. As the outgunned Space Force is driven back in battle after battle in what appears to be a war of extermination, one officer experiences precognitive visions that help him blunt the enemy onslaught, but he can't control or predict when they occur.

This book is perfect for me, i read while i fall asleep or drive. so its hard for me to get into a overly technical sic fi book. so this was perfect for me. good story and good characters. decent struggle and the underlying plot of the book gets introduced in a very cool way. does leave a bit of a cliff hanger.

The mission goes suddenly and horribly wrong with the possibility of inadvertently leading the Hocklyns to Earth decades in advance of their estimated arrival time. Well after reading the second book that was very face paced (which i personally prefer) this book goes back in time as we just start to get out into the universe. i enjoyed it, it was a bit slow for me, but i stuck with it and I'm now on to the next book in the series.

This book is a great add to the verse. so many times we fallow the same set of characters. so this jumps over to another planet with its own problems, and as you go around that part of the empire you see how the fall is affecting another part of the verse. The only thing i did not like was the repeat of some beliefs the main character had over and over. i got it the first time and the second time. but after that it got on my nerve he kept bringing it up. but not enough to turn me of. I love this narrator.

Her Imperial Highness the Grand Duchess Victoria Maria Teresa Inez Smythe-Peterwald, daughter of wealth and power, was raised to do little except be attractive and marry well. Then everything changed - her brother, her father’s favorite and the heir apparent, was killed in battle by Lieutenant Kris Longknife, daughter of the Peterwald’s longtime enemies. Vicky vowed revenge, but her skill set was more suitable for seduction than assassination, and she failed. Angry and disappointed, her father decided she needed military training and forced her to join the Navy.

A slot of times in multi book series some things get old. Like the jump drive blue white washing over the bridge. The author played with that finally in this book. And the story is staying somewhat fresh. When the book ended my first thought was "how long till the next one". And it has left me wondering where this is going.
