For Lieutenant Eve Dallas of the NYPSD, the job is a useful reminder of what she has to be grateful for this season. Hosting Roarke's big Irish family for the holiday may be challenging, but it’s a joyful improvement on her own dark childhood. Other couples aren’t as lucky as Eve and Roarke. The Reinholds, for example, are lying on the floor of their Downing Street apartment, stabbed and bludgeoned almost beyond recognition. Those who knew them are stunned - and even more heartbroken by the overwhelming evidence that they were murdered by their own son.

Would you listen to Thankless in Death again? Why?

I already have. I have listened to the whole series at least 3 times and have some favorites I return to over and over. This is one of the best. Each book you get the chance to watch the characters grow.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Thankless in Death?

There are two in this book, the medals ceremony and the surprise, both brought tears to my eyes and joy in the deep

Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Susan is In Death, she makes these books come alive. She brings life and personality to every character I can't hear in my head anyone else reading these books.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

All of the In Death books make me laugh, cry, think and even feel anger. Most of them I want to listen to over and over

    Any additional comments?

I look forward to the next one that is out in a few days and hate waiting for more.

Billy Crystal is 65, and he's not happy about it. With his trademark wit and heart, he outlines the absurdities and challenges that come with growing old, from insomnia to memory loss to leaving dinners with half your meal on your shirt. In humorous chapters like ""Buying the Plot"" and ""Nodding Off,"" Crystal not only catalogues his physical gripes, but offers a road map to his 77 million fellow baby boomers who are arriving at this milestone age with him. He also looks back at the most powerful and memorable moments of his long and storied life, from entertaining his relatives as a kid in Long Beach, Long Island, and his years doing stand-up in the Village, up through his legendary stint at Saturday Night Live, When Harry Met Sally, and his long run as host of the Academy Awards. Listeners get a front-row seat to his one-day career with the New York Yankees (he was the first player to ever ""test positive for Maalox""), his love affair with Sophia Loren, and his enduring friendships with several of his idols, including Mickey Mantle and Muhammad Ali. He lends a light touch to more serious topics like religion (""the aging friends I know have turned to the Holy Trinity: Advil, bourbon, and Prozac""); grandparenting; and, of course, dentistry. As wise and poignant as they are funny, Crystal's reflections are an unforgettable look at an extraordinary life well lived.

When she turned to face him at a party, for a glimmering moment he seemed to break out of the self-imposed exile that was his life. As he watched her tall, black-suited figure move away from him, cutting through the insensible crowd, he knew he would never be free again.

    Overall

I have over 200 audio books in my library and this is the first one I felt the need to review. This is the most depressing and disterbing book I have listened to. I bought the book because I enjoy the narrator and he does do a wonderful job. However the book left me unsettled and unhappy. I read and listen to books to take me into another world and happy ever afters, not the depressing world of unrequited love, death and emotional hell. Unless your into being depressed don't bother waisting a credit
