The vivid, fast-paced account of the siege of Khe Sanh told through the eyes of the men who lived it. For seventy-seven days in 1968, amid fears that America faced its own disastrous Dien Bien Phu, six thousand US Marines held off thirty thousand North Vietnamese Army regulars at the remote mountain stronghold called Khe Sanh. It was the biggest battle of the Vietnam War, with sharp ground engagements, devastating artillery duels, and massive US air strikes.

If you could sum up Last Stand at Khe Sanh in three words, what would they be?

    Sobering, awe-inspiring, and humbling...

What did you like best about this story?

The truth. It's refreshing to read accounts that are largely straightforward accounts of the situations and the people who experienced them.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

The topic is too much to sit and listen to in one sitting. It's obviously not a novel... One can take only so much heart-wrenching details and accounts in "one sitting".

    Any additional comments?

The topic and reality of what this book covers is sobering. My respect for both our country and her military defenders increased substantially, thanks to this superb and honest book. It shows our country's imperfections (especially those of her leaders), yet clearly shows as well the deep, abiding foundation of patriotism and service in a great many of her citizens.

General Stonewall Jackson was like no one anyone had ever seen. In April of 1862 he was merely another Confederate general with only a single battle credential in an army fighting in what seemed to be a losing cause. By middle June he had engineered perhaps the greatest military campaign in American history and was one of the most famous men in the Western World. He had given the Confederate cause what it had recently lacked: hope.

    Amazing, true account.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Impossible with over 27 hours of material and human inability to focus for that long; however, I WOULD'VE IF I COULD'VE. Amazing book and both as read and put together, it brought to life someone I always viewed as an "enemy". I never knew much of this man but my curiosity was piqued as I read some of his story in Doris Kearns' book about Lincoln and his political acumen and pioneerism (hiring and working with his most bitter political enemies, etc.).

    Any additional comments?

Great book about an awesome, inspiring, and noteworthy AMERICAN hero. Anyone who says this man was not one of our heroes is someone jaded and biased in their own narrow-mindedness and prejudice. Men like Jackson must be viewed according to their own time, culture, and what was the norm of that time. With this perspective, he was a hero and thanks to this book and all the work that went into it, NOW I KNOW. Thank you.

Sure to rank as one of the greatest aviation memoirs ever written, Viper Pilot is an Air Force legend's thrilling eyewitness account of modern air warfare. From 1986 to 2006, Lt. Col. Dan Hampton was a leading member of the Wild Weasels, the elite Air Force fighter squadrons whose mission is recognized as the most dangerous job in modern air combat. Weasels are the first planes sent into a war zone, flying deep behind enemy lines purposely seeking to draw fire from surface-to-air missiles and artillery. They must skillfully evade being shot down - and then return to destroy the threats, thereby making the skies safe for everyone else to follow.

What did you love best about Viper Pilot?

Being in the Air National Guard myself, yet not a flyer, I appreciated the great attention to detail and depth of experience this man has had, faithfully serving our country. His experiences and almost surreal placement in key Air Force battles was shocking to me. To read about history and then hear someone's account of actually having been there...

    Which scene was your favorite?

There were several that would qualify. It was overall an amazing memoir.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    "Air Warrior".
