This was a great book if you have not read many of the other Lincoln books. "Blood on the Moon" & "Manhunt" were both also well done. The means of telling the story in a novel type context made this audio-book enjoyable. I always enjoy hearing the author of the book reading the book. No president, and few other people have had as much written about themselves as Lincoln. New information is hard to find. This account was very well done. I would recommend it.
I have listened to this book 5 times and have found it interesting each time. Too much info for one listen.

This did not work for me
I did a 35 mile hike with my daughter on the AT. We listened to this on the way back and laughed our asses off.
They should have made a movie about this book. Oh wait they did or did not. This book makes sense of what happened. It was a great read/listen. The story has considerable depth, which does not translate into the movie. If you hated the movie or at least thought it shallow, you will love the book/listen.
Excellent book. I could not stop listening to it. I never had a clear picture of this conflict from the media reports, at the time. This book makes sense how this operation was formed and orchestrated.
Thank God there are people watching over us.
Simply this was the best Audible book I have heard. The author and narrator make this effort a true enjoyment. This is a complex story about a complex man in a complex time, told in a simple straight foward manner. If you are a history reader, this is a must.
