Although T. E. Lawrence, commonly known as "Lawrence of Arabia’, died in 1935, the story of his life has captured the imagination of succeeding generations. Seven Pillars of Wisdom is a monumental work in which he chronicles his role in leading the Arab Revolt against the Turks during the First World War. A reluctant leader, and wracked by guilt at the duplicity of the British, Lawrence nevertheless threw himself into his role, suffering the blistering desert conditions and masterminding military campaigns which culminated in the triumphant march of the Arabs into Damascus.

For a long time I have wanted to read "Seven Pillars of Wisdom" I am glad I didn't. I never would have put in the fantastic narration that gives this book a life. Roy McMillan puts so much verve in the interpretation, all the characters have their own voice. This book is true history as it comes from Lawrence's confused mind.. It has action , of course, camel rides for days under the most sever conditions, rides in Rolls Royces filled with high explosives intrigue, betrayal tense page turner. I listened to it in two days. It' fantastic! I believe you'll love it.

Thanks for taking me along with you around the world! I just sat down and listened to your whole tale. Additionally you did a first rate narration.
I'm from San Francisco and loved sailing from Sausalito, around Angel Island...all over but I never went under the Golden Gate. You took me there.
In the'60's I shipped out as a a deck hand on a Norwegian freighter :Tahiti, Pango, Fifji, Raubaul, Numia etc, but I was a deckhand: you were a Skipper!
I doff my cap to you. Your story was fantastic what an adventure. What was your next fulfillment? You are a gifted writer and narrater. Looking for your next book. Congratulations!

I don't know how I selected this novel but what a find. The story and narration are first rate. This is a moody action and so well researched drama I could not put it down.
Before I finished it I had to find out what else Jason Matthews had in store for me. I was sorely disappointed this was his only offering so far. I only hope he working on another brilliant
    piece of entertainment.
His background is in espionage and the black
arts and his story line is fantastic. And
Also, the characters both villain and Heroes are
    Wonderfully developed.
If you are a fan of spy craft and have read all the masters you will surely be adding Mr. Matthews to your library. Enjoy this magnificent novel.

"If Robert Littell didn't invent the American spy novel," says Tom Clancy, "he should have." In this spectacular Cold-War-as-Alice-in-Wonderland epic, Littell, "the American le Carre," takes us down the rabbit hole and into the labyrinthine world of espionage that has been the CIA for the last half-century. "Ostensibly a single novel, The Company can also be listened to as an anthology of cracking good spy stories," says (Publishers Weekly).

What a writer. I think of all the research that went into this massive labor of love and then crafting and polishing a 40 hr. "can't put it down" spy docu/novel (?) + page turner. That's majestic for him and a marathon time out for me.

Nothing else he has penned can compare to this masterpiece. His other work: The Sisters, etc., etc. nothing so far comes close in his oeuvre.
We will just have to wait and see what the years will bring forth.

I spend hours researching books: checking number of readers, readers reviews, listening to narrators, ratio of stars to numbers of readers ete.,etc. Sometime I don't find anything that appeals to me so I go to bed. However, Ghostman caught my attention. I've been looking for a modern mystery and it seemed to meet my criteria

I have been reading Alan Furst, Philip Kerr, John La Carre, Eric Ambler up through Brad Thor,
Vince Flynn, all the spy, espionage genera and I wanted something current. That's when I found "Ghost Man". and took a shot. Wow. What a surprise. A story and plot just what I was hungry for.

This is one terrific novel. performance, plot. originality. I really got lucky. Looking for more from this talented writer, Roger Hobbs , together with narrator Jake Weber. Check it out! It's the beginning of a brilliant career, and it's nice to get in on the first novel.

A high government official is shot on the street, and the hunt for the killer begins. The search leads all over the world, netting a series of suspects whose only connection is their innocence - at least of this crime. But The Case of Comrade Tulayev, the best novel about the Stalinist purges, is also a classic tale of risk and adventure that stands beside For Whom the Bell Tolls. It is a masterpiece, now available again after 30 years.

I was referred to this story by Christopher Hitchens and gave it a shot. It was dark and well written but sad in its overall cold war conclusions. Hitchens was one of our true intellectuals and that's what sold me on the book. Historically, a must read if you are interested in Russian history and a nation based on lies. Lot's of history behind Victor Serge a revolutionary worth knowing about.

Is Vince preparing us for Rapp's retirement and Nash 's taking over?I hope not. In this book I kept waiting for Mitch to come in and bust things up but got too much of Nash's home life.Sorry, this was a dud for me.

Philip Kerr’s intricate novels featuring former Berlin homicide detective Bernie Gunther have earned ahallowed place in the hearts of mystery fans. It’s 1950, and Bernie has arrived in Argentina seeking asylum after being falsely identified as a Nazi war criminal. There he investigates the murder of a wealthy banker’s daughter ina case reminiscent of one he worked in Germany 18 years before.

What could have gone through Mr Kerr's head to have him drop John Lee and use Paul Hecht as narrator? The wonderful exciting Bernie Gunter" stories have gone stone cold flat. John Lee was Bernie. Hecht reads in a flat monotone disinterested tone that puts me to sleep. I have lost all interest in the series. I am finished. No longer will I be transported through the dark mysterious streets of Europe through unique twists and turns, listening to richly developed characters interact in Mr Kerr's masterful work.
I know it was 15 years since he penned a new "Bernie "novel but Got in Himmel, there are so many other talented readers he could have chosen. Did he even audition Hecht? or was Hecht fobbed off on him for loosing a bet?.
    Good by Bernie...RIP

Eddie Chapman was a charming criminal, a con man, and a philanderer. He was also one of the most remarkable double agents Britain has ever produced. Inside the traitor was a man of loyalty; inside the villain was a hero. The problem for Chapman, his spymasters, and his lovers was to know where one persona ended and the other began.

Wow! This is one of the best books I've come across so far. A "can't stop listening" jewel.
I was searching action/adventure and sampled all the big hit writers Then I found the review on this book and dove in. I tell you folks, truth is better than fiction. Also, there are interviews with Eddie Chapman on youtube and a brief synopsis by the author. This self educated gentleman "crook", who loved to blow up safe's makes me really wonder what this man was made up of. This is the find of the day for me.
