Christopher Moore took a sensitive subject and without coming down to extreme on either side created a laugh out loud masterpiece and Fisher Stevens is pitch perfect on the narration!
If you are going to narrate a book at least research the subject matter. I know this is not Shakespeare or Austen but for the love of God at least learn how to pronounce the names of the characters.
Mr. Hollander's narration was wonderful
I was always going to get this title. As silly as it sounds I felt that I owed that to Mrs. Rowling for all the joy she gave me through the Harry Potter series. I knew it was going to be different and I went into it with an open mind. Midway through the book I had already forgotten who the author was and was just sucked into the story. There is no likeable character( think of a town full of Dursleys) yet the story was so well written that I didn't care.So if you can accept this book on it's own merits ( no Magic , plenty of Muggles) then I suggest you try it out.
great feel for the characters
This could have been so much more. The plot was predictable and the story , while good , is not great. As always Mr. Wheaton is fabulous. If you have an extra credit and want some mindless fun then don't be sheepish about getting this title
After listening to Ready Player One, which by the way was my favorite book this year, I wanted to listen to Mr Wheaton as a narrator on another title. The book itself is fun and on its own would be worth a credit add to that Mr Wheaton's performace and it's a must for all of us Sci-Fi geeks. Also I have determined that I could listen to Mr Wheaton read the phone book and I would be entertained.
Nostalgic Nerd Heaven
Cant compare. Mr Cline nailed this.
Such an awesome book only made better by Mr. Wheaton's spot on narration. If you are between the ages of 30 and 45 be prepared to start looking for your Atari to play after listening to this book
Yes. Good Western with good narration
Billy is the star
His voice gives depth to some otherwise stereotypical characters
Stu"s journey back to Boulder with Tom
This book has obviously stood the test of time and Mr. Gardner's narration has just took something great and made it greater. Highly recommend!
Yes. A lot of new insight on some of America's most loved pioneers
As a Tennessean, I loved listening about some of our favorite sons. Davy Crockett , Sam Houston etc.
All of the "Mystery Gang " references were really fun
Don't want to give away any scenes. The less you know going into the book the better you will enjoy it.
Good narration , quirky story and fun characters makes this book definately worth the credit.
