From the author of Another Piece of My Heart comes the gripping story of two women who live on opposite coasts but whose lives are connected in ways they never could have imagined. Both women are wives and mothers to children who are about to leave the nest for school. They're both in their 40s and have husbands who travel more than either of them would like. They are both feeling an emptiness neither had expected. But when a shocking secret is exposed, their lives are blown apart.

The definitive, personal account of the deadliest season in the history of Everest by the acclaimed journalist and author of Into the Wild. Read by the author. Also, hear a Fresh Air interview with Krakauer conducted shortly after his ordeal.

    Story

Perhaps Mr. Krakauer was determined to get his story out but seriously wanted to educate the listener/reader as to the various pitfalls of mountain ascents first. A noble task, but the result is terrible organization and delivery. By the time you get to "his" personal story, you have been led round and round, peppered with high altitude facts, equipment and history. It's all over the place.
I hated the choppiness of the story and was anxious to hear the story of Krakauer's ascent. The flow was dismal. I struggled to get to the end.

When novelist Owen Quine goes missing, his wife calls in private detective Cormoran Strike. At first, Mrs. Quine just thinks her husband has gone off by himself for a few days - as he has done before - and she wants Strike to find him and bring him home. But as Strike investigates, it becomes clear that there is more to Quine's disappearance than his wife realizes. The novelist has just completed a manuscript featuring poisonous pen-portraits of almost everyone he knows.

After Cuckoo's calling I expected more -- or more of the same quality story. The story was complicated - delving into the world of writers and publishing houses -- the characters bizarre and none of them were endearing - except for Stryker maybe. I didn't care what happened to any of the others. He was the only hero.
I didn't care for this book - though I like JK Rowling immensely.
I do hope we hear more from Robert Galbraith - just didn't care for this one.

One choice can transform you - or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves - and herself - while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

    Story

This trilogy is interesting and has a bit more character development than the hunger games. But at the end of the day, the delivery and narration is very juvenile in some parts of the book and I had trouble getting through it. I think this is a book I would rather read and invent the voices and tones of the characters in my head than actually listen to the teenage inflections. Story is great, though quite violent at times. I think I will read nr 3. on my kindle.

Think smart people are just born that way? Think again. Drawing on diverse studies of the mind, from psychology to linguistics, philosophy, and learning science, Art Markman, Ph.D., demonstrates the difference between "smart thinking" and raw intelligence, showing listeners how memory works, how to learn effectively, and how to use knowledge to get things done. He then introduces his own three-part formula for listeners to employ "smart thinking" in their daily lives.
