All the different takes on revenge.
Yes. Pretty good.
The girl from hot sugar blues.
Pretty good considering lackluster material.
Jack and Miles excessive bacchannal.
Too many three and four syllable words. Could have saved time by euthanizing his mother in the first third of the book. Basically this is an author that was embarrassed by the success of Sideways and the movie, feels he doesn't deserve the success and writes a book that ensures he will never have to write about these characters again. Pickett writes a personal novel never failing to point out what an immature, emotional, alcoholic wreck he has made of his life. He used the characters of Jack and Miles and a sequel to a popular book to bait and switch readers. I feel like a fool finishing the book. No wonder Knopf rejected the book and he had to self publish.
Without the gee whiz voice
The father was irritating. The delay tactics to ratchet up suspense by Battles were ridiculous. If they told the guy one more time I cant tell you, I was going to scream. The interviewing cop was an idiot.
Have to read the reviews that are not shill reviews. This book was pretty bad.
I am hating these books with bad guys that have more resources and capabilities than the NSA. I do not like that the characters do exactly the wrong thing, make the wrong decision to put themselves and the kid at risk. Why wasn't the kid in WitSec. The premise is wrong from the beginning. The wife didn't bring the gun. The hero gets taken with a stupid threat at the hospital. This great tracker guy gets taken by a bad guy. How many things have to line up to be anywhere close to plausible>
I dont know
I couldnt get past the 1st section. Robert Heinlein's negative societal views of the future get to be too much. His pining for a controlling cabal of better to lead government is depressing.
The book is a disaster
May have been the material, but it was quite whiny.
Young John Rain
Seeing his young self through the eyes of the much older Rain.
Killing the CIA guy
Yes, because it is part of the evolution of Travis and hi associated characters.
Destroying the terrorist cell.
Yes and no. Performance was just not up to par.
Same old stuff. Evil bad guy in charge and running poor victim until the last 20 minutes. Too many other irrelevant story lines.
Whiny to over the top super modern female with total disdain for the male gender.
none really. just background noise
Coben needs to come up with a new formula. The bad guys always slip up in the end which means you wade through 9/10s of the book to get to the contrived ending.
Get to the point. Tired of hearing about how she has no money. Very boring characters
Almost couldnt understand the narrator. Very Nasal
All of them
I like these anthologies by the MWA. Some of the stories are great and you think this would have made a great book. Some, you just go ok, I got this as part of the whole short story book. I like that some of these writers who I listen to all the time step outside of their normal character base.
They all had an ending.
They were all good.
Yes yes yes. I love these. Some of these shorts are outstanding. Worth the wading through the not so goods.
Probably not the author. These authors that write these series seem to start out with cookie cutter cartoon characters. This was of course a first in a series that I got for the 4.95 sale.
Nope. Plot and characters are too stupid and whatever suspense he is trying to create is completely contrived out of the how to create suspense handbook.
He was fine.
Good premise, but no follow through.
Let's not have people get in the kidnapping business and feel bad about what they have been doing and having moral issues. Pretty stupid. The idea is that because these kids went to college they had a more firm grasp on morality, even though they were conducting heinous crime. Almost like the ever stupid view point of the Orange is the New Black protagonist.
