  • Napoleon Hill's Outwitting the Devil: The Secret to Freedom and Success

In 1938, just after publication of his all-time best-seller Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill revealed that he had broken the Devil’s Code, forcing him to confess his secrets. The resulting manuscript - Outwitting the Devil - proved so controversial, it was hidden for more than 70 years. Now, Sharon Lechter brings us this important book, annotating and editing it for a contemporary audience. Using his legendary ability to get to the root of human potential, Hill digs deep to identify the greatest obstacles we face in reaching our personal goals....

Sharon Lechter tries to ruin the dramatization of Hill's work. But, the story is too good.

If you like Think and Grow Rich you will enjoy this story which is a conversation between Hill and the Devil. The story gives life to his philosophy. Hill takes some VERY controversial positions. I can understand why it was unpublished for 70 years. The voices of Hill and the devil are very good.

Sharon Lechter is the editor. She also adds 'clarification' to parts of the book. She is TERRIBLE. She brings nothing to the story. Only retells what we already heard and promotes her own material. That said, I would still recommend the audio. Just be prepared.

Earl Nightingale helps you unearth and use the six stepping stones to success - the ideas and approaches that will accelerate your climb to the top five percent of the social and economic pyramid of society. His stepping stones may seem simple: attitude, integrity, the mind, goals, service and rewards, and leadership. But at one time or another, most of us fail to use these important steps in ways that lead us to uncommon achievement.

I purchased this because I am a huge Earl Nightingale fan. I love the way he performs as a speaker. There is not a whole you can cover in 13 minutes. But, as always Nightingale does a good job. If you really want to dig into Earl Nightingale’s philosophy, I suggest The Strangest Secret or better yet, Lead the Field

The original Psychology of Winning is a personal development classic. Even though it was done in the late 70s or early 80s, I still listen to it. I suggest you purchase that and skip this version.

The 21st century version is more musings of an old war horse than usable information. Much of the program is about Waitley's regrets. I nearly turned it off several times. But, stayed with it hoping it would get better. It did not. I was really surprised how melancholy much of it is. Especially from a man that has lived such an outstanding life.

Earl Nightingale said that he came to his “aha” moment at the age of twenty-nine while reading Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich - specifically the words “we become what we think about”. Shortly thereafter he recorded The Strangest Secret which went on to earn a gold record and became the largest selling non-entertainment recording in record industry history. Think and Grow Rich is the standard against which all motivational books are measured. The book (and audiobook) has helped millions of people create their own success and realize their dreams.

This gives you a short overview of the book. This will be good if you have never read the full book or like me, use it as a quick review/reminder of the key points. But, it is not a substitute for listening to Think and Grow Rich (I recommend the original version performed by Erik Synnestvedt)

Chronicling his embodiment of the American Dream, Total Recall covers Schwarzenegger's high-stakes journey to the United States, from creating the international bodybuilding industry out of the sands of Venice Beach, to breathing life into cinema's most iconic characters, and becoming one of the leading political figures of our time. Proud of his accomplishments and honest about his regrets, Schwarzenegger spares nothing in sharing his amazing story.

Arnold lived the American dream. This book gives you his view of how he pulled it off. It is really amazing. He really did Think and Grow Rich. I am really pleased that he explains his business ventures with as must detail as the Hollywood stuff. His life before Hollywood is fascinating and you can see how he laid the groundwork for his success. You will not get the salacious details about the affair that ended his marriage. But, if that is what you want, just get a gossip rag. Arnold’s life was so much more than that. Be warned, he uses some course words including the F bomb a few times. But, that language was part of his life.

Most of us believe that we will finally feel satisfied and content with our lives when we get the good news we have been waiting for, find a healthy relationship, or achieve one of our personal goals. However, this rarely happens. Good fortune is often followed by negative emotions that overtake us and result in destructive behaviors.

Has that happened in your career, with your finances or your relationships? If you said yes, The Big Leap is for you. It is about how to recognize your upper limit behavior and break through you self imposed glass ceiling.

She overcame some really serious challenges in her life with hard work, risk taking and a lot a moxie. She did get some good breaks too. But, she was smart enough to take advantage of them when they came along.

It will be easier to do the exercises suggested. Doing those exercises are a vital part of the book.

Think and Grow Rich is the number-one inspirational and motivational classic for individuals who are interested in furthering their lives and reaching their goals by learning from important figures in history. The text read in this audiobook is the original 1937 edition written by Napoleon Hill and inspired by Andrew Carnegie - and while it has often been reproduced, no updated version has ever been able to compete with the original.

If you have read or listened to other versions of Think and Grow Rich you need to listen to this one too. It is the original 1938 text. It is longer than most other editions but, it’s worth it. There are whole sections of this book that are left out of other versions. And I found those sections to be quite valuable. As for the narrator – I thought he was fine. His delivery allowed me to add whatever color I needed to as I digested the information
