Dante's Divine Comedy is considered to be not only the most important epic poem in Italian literature, but also one of the greatest poems ever written. It consists of 100 cantos, and (after an introductory canto) they are divided into three sections. Each section is 33 cantos in length, and they describe how Dante and a guide travel through Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso.

He does a good job of separating the many characters

A bit of both, a really deep book-requires some focus or you quickly loose continuity-

Balram Halwai is a complicated man. Servant. Philosopher. Entrepreneur. Murderer. Balram tells us the terrible and transfixing story of how he came to be a success in life - having nothing but his own wits to help him along. Through Balram's eyes, we see India as we've never seen it before: the cockroaches and the call centers, the prostitutes and the worshippers, the water buffalo and, trapped in so many kinds of cages that escape is (almost) impossible, the white tiger.

With a charisma as undeniable as it is unexpected, Balram teaches us that religion doesn't create morality and money doesn't solve every problem.

Mark P. Furlong says: "Entertaining, thought-provoking, darkly funny"

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Maybe , Depends on lesson they would learn

Who was your favorite character and why?

    The tiger if coarse

What does John Lee bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The accent , and separation of characters by dialect...still a bit dicey.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, the first time....really takes 2 times thru to actually feel like you got it-

    Any additional comments?

Language could be offensive, has a rugged roughness, lots of raw 3rd world insight. If you want into the mind set of an India opportunist.

These 16 lectures bring the Socratic quest for truth alive and explore ideas that are as vital today as they were 25 centuries ago. Ideas about truth, justice, love, beauty, courage, and wisdom that can change lives and reveal the world in new ways. Here, you'll delve into the inner structure, action, and meaning of 17 of Plato's greatest dialogues, making these lectures an indispensable companion for anyone interested in philosophy in general or Platonic thought in particular.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

How badly do you want to know the bases for our modern day beliefs-it was worth my time

Who was your favorite character and why?

    Socrates...has some truly deep questions

How could the performance have been better?

The narrator is constantly dry mouthed and sipping water..after 10-14 hours it gets old.

Could you see Plato, Socrates, and the Dialogues being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I don't think today's producers could stick to the script....and today's people don't have the brain power to keep up with the mental work-out, so, no, sadly I don't think a series could be produced.

    Any additional comments?

I have gained a bit more insight into old world thought, and that was what I was looking for just a bit disappointed by the narration and lack of original script that was used.
