Twelve Years a Slave tells the amazing story of a free Black man who in 1841 is taken away from his family and sold into slavery in the deep south of the United States. Solomon Northop takes us with him on his most unfortunate Journey through the days of slavery. A journey no human being should ever endure. We feel his pain as he wakes up with his arms and legs bound in the chains of slavery. Will he ever get to see his wife or hold his children in his arms again?

Shari says: "Disappointed by this reader."

For generations, Arienh’s people have feared the Viking raids. She knows all too well the terrible toll the Northmen have taken on the Celts, having lost most of her own family to their swords. So one stormy night when she encounters and wounds a Viking warrior, she has every right to want him dead. And yet she hesitates…. Ronan knows Arienh doesn’t recognize him. He was just a boy when his kinsmen raided her village and Ronan risked his own life to protect her. Now he has returned to claim the beautiful girl who captured his heart years before. But wooing a Celtic woman is no easy task.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I don't know. women I could relate to? less of this constant selfpity? any sign of humor I could understand

Would you ever listen to anything by Delle Jacobs again?

    don't think I would

What does Sarah Coomes bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I really did like the narrator
the accents are nice, the voices of the different characters match

Determined to thwart her parents' plans to marry her off into Asian suburbia, Fiona seeks her freedom at any price. How far will she go to bury the Hello Kitty stereotype forever? Fiona's journey of self-discovery is biting and clever as she embraces her true nature and creates her own version of the American Dream, eliminating - without fear or remorse - anyone who stands in her way.
