A man with a painful past. A child with a doubtful future. And a shared journey toward healing for both their hearts... It begins on the shaded town square in a sleepy Southern town. A spirited seven-year-old has a brisk business at her lemonade stand. But the little girl’s pretty yellow dress can’t quite hide the ugly scar on her chest. The stranger understands more about it than he wants to admit. And the beat-up bread truck careening around the corner with its radio blaring is about to change the trajectory of both their lives.

But once in Amsterdam, Gabriel soon discovers a conspiracy of terror festering in the city's Islamic underground.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Secret Servant to be better than the print version?

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Secret Servant. This is my 3rd Gabriel Allon series. The narrator (Phil Gigante) has a wonderful voice and is just perfect for Gabriel Allon. I could not put this book down. I just kept reading until it was done. Now I am looking for the next book and hope it will be narrated by Phil Gigante. He gives life to his characters. Its almost like you are actually there.

What did you like best about this story?

The narrator really made the story for me.

What about Phil Gigante’s performance did you like?

As stated in my review above, he is just PERFECT for this series. He has such a commanding voice and he does the character justice.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I have to admit that sometimes I was cringing when I was listening to when some of the characters were being tortured. But I also smiled and laughed out loud at some of the things that the character Ariel Sharone (?) said and cried as well.

    Any additional comments?

    I just loved the book.

I took a chance on this book because of the brief narrative and ended up truly enjoying the book all because of the narrator Robertson Dean. He made the book truly worth listening to. He gave the book a heart and soul. I so enjoyed his reading that I have been searching for other books that he has narrated.

Marion and Shiva Stone are twin brothers born of a secret union between a beautiful Indian nun and a brash British surgeon at a mission hospital in Addis Ababa. Orphaned by their mother's death in childbirth and their father's disappearance, bound together by a preternatural connection and a shared fascination with medicine, the twins come of age as Ethiopia hovers on the brink of revolution. Yet it will be love, not politics - their passion for the same woman - that will tear them apart.

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.
