I found it difficult to get into the story at first. It took a while. It is an interesting story...not my usual style...However, I did find myself engaged eventually and eager to find out what happened next....Not sure if I would bother reading any other works by this author though....A very entertaining fiction....

After five hectic years of retirement from Lord's Chapel, Father Tim Kavanagh returns with his wife, Cynthia, from a so-called pleasure trip to the land of his Irish ancestors. While glad to be at home in Mitford, something is definitely missing: a pulpit. But when he's offered one, he decides he doesn't want it. Maybe he's lost his passion. His adopted son, Dooley, wrestles with his own passion - for the beautiful and gifted Lace Turner, and his vision to become a successful country vet.

I have been a Mitford fan for years and have anxiously awaited each new book....Have read them all. This is my first audio. Maybe that is why I find this story annoyingly boring?? I havent finished listening to it yet, because I find it difficult....Im hoping I can finally get into it as I always enjoyed this author when I read the books....

I discovered this book when I was aobut 14 years old...my friend told me about it. I am now almost 61. I have read and reread this book so many times, I know it by heart. And I still love it and read it like it is the first time. I was absolutely thrilled to find it on audible. I recommend it to the highest degree. The reader did a nice job....You won't be disappointed in this story....You can't go wrong with Daphne Du Maurier anyway!

It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

Ever since I discovered Ms Moyes books, I have devoured them. I discovered audible when I needed something to distract me from the drudgery of my 4 mile walks. I would only let myself listen while walking since that would be the carrot to get me going. Well, with these books I broke my rule. The narrator is unbelievable....wonderful....wonderful....i just cant say enough good things about ALL her books. Im only sorry to have them all end.
