I think this book placement was misleading and should have been placed in Children's literature and I would NOT have purchased it.
This is a tough review because while I found the book beautiful, well written and well read....I was bored and it wasn't to my interest or what I was expecting. I thought the story would intertwine the thoughts of the child and his experiences with his grown-up self. Instead, the book, in almost it's entirety, went on and on about a fantastical- science fictionist type events that occurred for a couple of days to a seven year old boy.
Events so unbelievable and strange I might liken it to reading just a few chapters of Harry Potter. The book was short, just over five hours and I found it to be a waste of my credit:(
All of these reviewers are correct! I love Harlen Coben novels so much, I thought I could handle the reviews regarding the bad narrator because his stories are worth it. However, I am having a hard time listening to her. She is emphatic with each sentence, like she is yelling at you the entire time she is speaking or every sentence ends with an exclamation point. On top of that, she completely draws out each syllable in a word, so, although she is yelling, she is also drawing out each syllable of each word.
"THE HO-OUSsssE WAASSSS BLUUUEE!!!! Said in a whinny nasal-y voice. :(
I can't even understand what she is saying because she has the normal flow of the book so bonkers she is completely throwing me off.
Sadly, this is one to skip in audio and hopefully find the time read.
