Thought it was a brilliant book and didnt mind Alice Walker reading it at all, quite enjoyable.
I bought this book during the $5.00 sale thinking it was a great deal but I really wish I had my $5.00 back. I listened to almost all of the first part thinking that it was just a slow beginning but the book never really started anything after 7 hours of listening. The main characters were so hard to relate to and I never got a clear picture of any of them or why they were worth writing about. Horrible narration made this flat novel even flatter. I tried to get through it but I just can't listen to another word.
well written and good story but this is the saddest more depressing book I've ever "read". Just one bad thing happens after another, longing for a more uplifting story now...
kept my interesest the entire time, and i ended up listening to it too much, Finished it in 2 days and now I have to buy another book for my commute! Really good one, highly recommend.
The overall story of this novel was okay, it could have been entertaining but there weren't enough details to the important stuff and way too many details that should have been edited out-like everyday conversations that were totally boring. I found myself having to constantly rewind to the last chapter because I just couldn't focus on this one. It was just very choppy, and a lot of the characters we never formed. I've listened to 2 other novels from Lisa Jackson that i liked, but this wasn't one of them.
There wasn't a great story in this book but it was entertaining and the author did a great job at narrating. I would like to see more from her.
The story may be good but I can't concentrate or keep up with the story because the narration is so bad. The guy sounds the same for each character, even for the women character-just sounds like an old Englishman. This may be better if read.
Being a new parent, this hit me harder than I expected. A realization that any family can be hit by this tragedy and I found myself getting teary eyed throughout the book. It is heart aching to hear this fathers story but the story is Told well and with great Narration. Some subjects tend to go on too long such as explaining the drug but overall I recommend this book.
