WORST NARRATOR EVER! BEWARE BEWARE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! BEWARE ANYTHING READ BY THIS INCOMPETENT MAN!
Typical first-time WAY overprotective smothering mother hen type. Horrible daily deal. At least the narrator was good.
Aside from the "supernatural" crap i wasn't expecting, the lead female had a pushy, smart-ass, chip on the shoulder, something to prove attitude that i despise. The author tried to elicit sympathy for her in the first part but i had none. Not at all what i was expecting. Makes decent background noise to sleep by, don't waste your money. One of the worst "deals of the day" I've purchased. The narrator wasn't that great, but it may have just been the hatred of the story clouding my judgment.
Started a bit slow but after the action started, it didn't let up. I'm also not a big fan of books more than 5yrs old- the technology gap is hard to relate to. (Says a person glued to her 'smart phone')
Very good narration. Schultz has an impressive array of accents.
Let me first say that I despise gangster/mafioso books and movies. There was only one irritating "goomba" (that's what the author calls him) and he was the bad guy. Very suspenseful mystery.
I will read it again. And I will be looking into more books by the same author/narrator. This narrator certainly does a great 'godfather wannabe' impression. He has many good accents. No monotones or pauses, very good narration.
Religious agenda. Other than that, a doomsday prepper scenario. Surprising that I didn't like Dick Hill's performance. He uses too many pauses.
The book does have some great information and tips as far as 'prepping' goes, I just don't like religion mixed in with my reads. It's a downer.
Seems like Koontz has an agenda- rekindle your faith in god and your life will change for the better.
If you can get past that, it's a decent read. It has good parts. Something a bit Steven King like. Good narrator.
As for the book itself, it has a wealth of information about very current events. This is written the week of the Ebola Czar etc. So it's very relevant. I had read it 2 years previously which has come in handy.
As for the 'narrator' who ruined this listen; It was like pulling teeth listening to this book. This narrator is obviously not educated or coached enough to read a book containing words too difficult for her to pronounce. She should stay with children's books, away from geography and medical terms. Pitiful. I would love to find the person to be held accountable for this monstrous performance and force them to listen to it at least twice nonstop.
I don't know how the story is because I cannot.......tolerate listening....to......all his unnecessary. ......pauses. WORST NARRATOR EVER!
I despise sci-fi, so I didn't like it as well as I thought. It is a good story if you overlook the 'telepathic communication'. I think audible.com should give a better feel for what to expect.
The narrator was a bit too lispy for my taste, but she did an AMAZING job on all the different voices and accents.
