Weaving tales of the everyday world transformed into an unrecognizable place, where reason no longer exists and logic ceases to explain the workings of the universe, Clive Barker provides the stuff of nightmares in packages too tantalizing to resist. This first volume contains the short stories : "The Book of Blood," "The Midnight Meat Train," "The Yattering and Jack," "Sex, Death, and Starshine," and "In the Hills, the Cities,"

Has The Books of Blood, Volume 1 turned you off from other books in this genre?

I will not read any other Books of Blood.

Would you be willing to try another one of the narrators’s performances?

There were several narrator's in this book, so it is a possibility I might.

    Any additional comments?

This book was not good in any way. The very first story had me wondering what I was listening to and why??

Even overseas, his friend Kevin is somehow standing at his side. At Auburn Lake, Adrian and his adopted family finally understand that the dreams they have suffered since the end of the world are far more than restless imaginings. A man who makes an unscheduled stop gets more than he bargained for in "Candyland". A group of teens discover a terrible secret on Samsonite farm in "Scarecrows". A schoolyard bully and his former victim reunite with horrifying results in "Long Tall Coffin." A high school party becomes an arachnid nightmare for one unfortunate guest in "The Boy Who Saw Spiders". These are just some of the horrors hidden within the darkest recesses of the funhouse.

The narrator that read this book was terrible. He had the same voice for all characters, and it was hard to distinguish between them at times.
The stories remind me more of R.L. Stine,if it weren't for the swearing. They were very predictable, and a little juvenile. I would not waist a credit or money on this one.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

    Nobody i know.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I would have hired a talented narrator.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Some authors should just stick to writing. The narration of this book was awful!! He sounded like a bored robot most of the time. I could only stand to listen to the first story, then i had to shut it off. I will be requesting a refund.

    Any additional comments?

These stories might actually be good. I will be buying them so i can read them myself.

This book was interesting enough to keep me listening. The problem i had with this book was, i figure out a key point of the story fairly early,so in my opinion, it was too predictable. But, that being said, i would not let that keep anyone else from buying the book. The story itself was pretty original and pretty good.

I had never heard of Michael Bray before. This book was a real treasure find. Every story with the exception of one, was very good. The only story that was a little disappointing was The Box, simply because it felt unfinished. But dont let that keep you from purchasing this great book!

Victoria McQueen has an uncanny knack for finding things: a misplaced bracelet, a missing photograph, answers to unanswerable questions. When she rides her bicycle over the rickety old covered bridge in the woods near her house, she always emerges in the places she needs to be. Vic doesn't tell anyone about her unusual ability, because she knows no one will believe her. She has trouble understanding it herself.

What did you like best about NOS4A2? What did you like least?

I liked the narrator's performance very much.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I found the whole story very interesting. It was depressing towards the end, but it did have a good ending overall.

Have you listened to any of Kate Mulgrew’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No I haven't but I would again!

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    Yes I would!!
