Weaving tales of the everyday world transformed into an unrecognizable place, where reason no longer exists and logic ceases to explain the workings of the universe, Clive Barker provides the stuff of nightmares in packages too tantalizing to resist. This first volume contains the short stories : "The Book of Blood," "The Midnight Meat Train," "The Yattering and Jack," "Sex, Death, and Starshine," and "In the Hills, the Cities,"

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

    nobody that I know.

Has The Books of Blood, Volume 1 turned you off from other books in this genre?

I will not read any other Books of Blood.

Would you be willing to try another one of the narrators’s performances?

There were several narrator's in this book, so it is a possibility I might.

    Any additional comments?

This book was not good in any way. The very first story had me wondering what I was listening to and why??

    Any additional comments?

I am an avid zombie book reader so I am pretty picky about them. This series ranks in my top 3 favorites now. I am not from the UK but I still enjoy the humor and I really love the narration. The English accent is something I love hearing from a narrator anyway, so to have that and the zombie story together is just fantastic! I haven't quite finished book 1 yet, but already used my last credit on number 2. I love the Dave and "Mr."Howie relationship.

The daily routine of policing the fields is rarely disrupted by straying undead. His drinking binges are over. Long days have thrown time over the memories of Annapolis. But this will all change.

Catherine has been enjoying the single life for long enough to know a good catch when she sees one. Gorgeous, charismatic, spontaneous – Lee seems almost too perfect to be true. And her friends clearly agree, as each in turn falls under his spell. But there is a darker side to Lee. His erratic, controlling and sometimes frightening behaviour means that Catherine is increasingly isolated. Driven into the darkest corner of her world, and trusting no one, she plans a meticulous escape.

Homicide detective Bryan Clauser is losing his mind. How else to explain the dreams he keeps having - dreams that mirror, with impossible accuracy, the gruesome serial murders taking place all over San Francisco? How else to explain the feelings these dreams provoke in him - not disgust, not horror, but excitement? Gabe, Alan and Eric have just finished their junior year of college. What better way to celebrate than one last night out as a trio? Doing the same as always, they visit a bar. This time, however, they decide to try somewhere new: The Torchlight Inn. They are eager to make it a night to remember. During their time at the shabby bar they come face-to-face with seedy bar patrons, a biker gang and one strange-acting bartender named T-Bone.

A man who makes an unscheduled stop gets more than he bargained for in "Candyland". A group of teens discover a terrible secret on Samsonite farm in "Scarecrows". A schoolyard bully and his former victim reunite with horrifying results in "Long Tall Coffin." A high school party becomes an arachnid nightmare for one unfortunate guest in "The Boy Who Saw Spiders". These are just some of the horrors hidden within the darkest recesses of the funhouse.

The narrator that read this book was terrible. He had the same voice for all characters, and it was hard to distinguish between them at times.
The stories remind me more of R.L. Stine,if it weren't for the swearing. They were very predictable, and a little juvenile. I would not waist a credit or money on this one.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

    Nobody i know.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I would have hired a talented narrator.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Some authors should just stick to writing. The narration of this book was awful!! He sounded like a bored robot most of the time. I could only stand to listen to the first story, then i had to shut it off. I will be requesting a refund.

    Any additional comments?

These stories might actually be good. I will be buying them so i can read them myself.
