Containing discoveries heralded as greater than the wheel or fire, Dianetics has remained a best seller for more than 50 years. And with over 20 million copies in print, it's indisputably the most widely read and influential book ever written about the human mind. Dianetics enables you to discover and eradicate these harmful experiences so they never affect you again, revealing the one person you've always wanted to know: You.

    Jeff says: "Repetitive nonsense"
    "Waste of time"
    Overall

Chose to listen to this because I wanted to learn what Dianetics is about. If I started believing what this group believes, I really would need intensive therapy!

On November 10, 2008, Dr. Eben Alexander was driven into coma by a disease so lethal that only 1 in 10,000,000 survive. Seven days later, he awakened with memories of a fantastic odyssey deep into another realm that were more real than this earthly one - memories that included meeting a deceased birth sister he had never known existed. Dr. Alexander deployed all his knowledge as a scientist to find out whether his mind could have played a trick on him. In its shutdown state, there was no way it could have.

Nicole Bridges still can't believe she's taken up residence in a Colorado apartment complex nicknamed "Splitsville". She's still reeling from her husband's affair, a divorce she never saw coming, and having to leave the upscale, comfortable world she helped make for her ex and their teenage daughter. With little money, even less work experience, and no idea what to do next, she takes tentative steps, if only to keep her head above water.

I live in Colorado, so I really enjoyed those parts of the book where she describes the scenery and our lifestyle here. Other than that, I didn't enjoy this book as much as i did the Goddess of Kitchen Avenue.

The truth only fiction can tell.... This is a novel about aspiration and delusion, set during the presidential election of 2012 and written by an anonymous author who has spent years observing politics and the fraught relationship between public image and self-regard.

The novel includes revealing and insightful portraits of many prominent figures in the political world—some invented and some real.

When people speculate that Obama himself wrote this, I have to burst into laughter. No way! Way too much hype over this book. And in audio it's worse.

Jump on Santa's sleigh for a journey though 17 centuries of Christmas magic!

Bryan says: "A story that will be in my heart for years to come"
"Excellent to listen to! Loved it!"
    Overall

If you don't believe in Santa, don't purchase this audio. This is not a book for the cynics. It's a book for the innocent and childlike at heart.

However, if you believe in the magic of Christmas and are still a child at heart, you must listen to this book. The narrator is terrific! He sounds just like Santa should sound like. The story also takes you on a historical ride through the ages. Excellent! I would love to read this aloud to my students (if the school district would allow it....)

I've only seen parts of the movie, so now that I've "finished reading" the book, I've got to see the movie to compare. My daughter and I listened to it during our cross-country move which took five days. Let me tell you, the trip was so much fun because we listened to the story. We actually got to drive through Atlanta during our audio adventure!

  • Angle of Repose

Wallace Stegner's uniquely American classic centers on Lyman Ward, a noted historian who relates a fictionalized biography of his pioneer grandparents at a time when he has become estranged from his own family. Through a combination of research, memory, and exaggeration, Ward voices ideas concerning the relationship between history and the present, art and life, parents and children, and husbands and wives.

Laurene says: "A magnificent novel, beautifully read"
    "Stegner is a great writer."
    Overall

I love Wallace Stegner's writing and have enjoyed his other stories. This one, however, is not my favorite. It's about an old curmudgeon historian that writes about his great-grandmother's life in the old West. The historical accuracy is just perfect. I learned a lot about how life was back in the late 1880's in Colorado, California, etc. But, what I did not like was the going back and forth to the 1970's from where the story is told. It was a bit depressing.

Best-selling author Kristen Heitzmann has inspired millions of fans with her colorful novels of Colorado, which include Honor's Pledge. In A Rush of Wings, a young woman seeking to escape her past finds refuge, romance, and a renewed faith high in the Rocky Mountains.

Tania says: "Tear-jerker, smile grabber, a feel good story"
    "Disappointing"
    Overall

The characters are too "one-dimensional" in my opinion. Noelle comes across as very self-centered and really never changes, even until the end, which ruins the story. The "hero" of the story is over the top in trying to convert Noelle. These characters are just not that believable. The story seems to have been written by a very beginning writer.
