I like spy trash (hit man/spy/international thriller stuff) if it is done well and this one is not. The characters are routinely asked to do stupid things that would not be what even a casual reader of the genre would do in the situation. A frustrating listen at best.
This is,unfortunately, a very lame story, read with more melodrama than it deserves and, in the end, was a major disappointment even as a mindless time filler while driving in rush hour traffic. The last two books that I have listened to that were read by Scott Brick have both been poor listens, I think in part due to the basic story lines being so bad, but also he is trying too hard to give these trite pieces more gravitas than they can handle.
Apparently this book was written for the barely literate. The plot is ridiculous and is so poorly developed that it must have been an outline that the editor passed on and forgot to read the final product. The presentation is equally silly and I'm not sure who is responsible for this- the director of the audio and/or the narrator. I feel dumber for having listened to it.
I was very disappointed in this book- the story was drawn out way too long for its content- there was so little there there that I kept expecting some plot twist or added depth. Imagine my disappointment when none came. I have enjoyed his other works but this one is a stinker
