For decades, the spacefaring species of known space have battled over the largest artifact - and grandest prize - in the galaxy: the all-but-limitless resources and technology of the Ringworld. Now, without warning, the Ringworld has vanished, leaving behind three rival war fleets. If the fallen civilization of the Ringworld can no longer be despoiled of its secrets, the puppeteers will be forced to surrender theirs - everyone knows that they are cowards. But the crises converging upon the trillion puppeteers of the Fleet of Worlds go far beyond even the onrushing armadas.

    "Where are the Pak?"

    Story
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Without the Pak Protectors it would underwhelm someone with no story line history. Much ado about nothing. Its just space species having a bad year. Where's the beef?

What could Larry Niven and Edward M. Lerner have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

At least have some interaction with the Pak which showed their amazing mind/body/ characteristics while dominating those around them. Pak are the ultimate space entities that of course humans can relate to and have a power relation with.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

OK, good development between voice styles. The reader did well keeping the various voices apart, it must have been a hard job to juggle them.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

waiting for the main event (Pak involvement)

    Any additional comments?

A quick follow up with a heavy space battle with most species and the Pak who have adopted Earth to protect.
