  • All Marketers Are Liars: The Power of Telling Authentic Stories in a Low-Trust World

Every marketer tells a story. And if they do it right, we believe them. We believe that wine tastes better in a $20 glass than a $1 glass. We believe that an $80,000 Porsche Cayenne is vastly superior to a $36,000 VW Touareg, which is virtually the same car. We believe that $225 Pumas will make our feet feel better, and look cooler, than $20 no-names...and believing it makes it true.

Where does All Marketers Are Liars rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This the first time I've reviewed a book anywhere but after listening I felt inspired to give it a go.

Unsure of how to start, or what to say beyond I really like this book, I first read what some others had to say. I noticed at least one other reviewer did not appreciate hearing Seth narrate his own book. I, however, listened to this book in one sitting practically and loved it and him. I enjoyed the enthusiasm he had for his own material.
I've listened to about 7 audio books so far... all based on business topics ...some read by their authors and some not, and this is my favorite so far. Maybe backing the mic up a little will help... lol
As far as the content? I've read many books about marketing technique and strategy and have listened to many marketing gurus. Though Seth's message isn't completely unfamiliar, he does put a new twist on many things you may have heard previously.
I very much liked his message and even had a few ah hah's about a project I'm working on at the moment.
I think I will read (or listen to) just about anything written by Seth Godin in the future.

Shadowing hundreds of salespeople for a double-blind study on performance, sales leadership consultant Lisa McLeod made a significant discovery: Salespeople driven by a sense of purpose wildly outperformed those driven by quotas. McLeod noticed that superstars didn't look at their quotas and ask, "How can I meet them?" They looked at their customers and asked, "How can I help them?" In McLeod's groundbreaking sales management book you'll discover why driving revenue is not the purpose of a sales force.

What made the experience of listening to Selling with Noble Purpose the most enjoyable?

As a sales person and business owner this is a specific code of ethics that’s very appealing and comforting. It may not be based on exclusively brand new idea but this book is full of modern, encouraging and solid values you can choose to base your business on and train your sales staff with.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.
There are many other books out there that have much better content for people interested in leadership skills and entrepreneurship.
This book is very much based on religious faith, though it is not mentioned in the description.
There are some good (though arrogant) sound bites in the first 2 hours.
However, I could not get past the "faith in god" as a business success and leadership skill drill (and I do mean "drill")
If you believe in a god, and if you believe he is invested in your business success, this book is for you.
