Mexican drug cartels are shooting up the streets of Laredo and El Paso. Somali pirates are holding three U.S. tankers for ransom. The President of the United States is fed up and, as Commander in Chief, has what he thinks is a pretty bright idea — to get hold of Colonel Charley Castillo and his merry band and get them on the case. Unfortunately, that will be difficult. Everybody knows that the President hates Castillo’s guts, and has just had him forcibly retired from the military, and now Castillo’s men are scattered far and wide, many of them in hiding.

Michael says: "TRIPE!!! Utter Tripe with horrible editing."

What would have made Hazardous Duty better?

Any kind of a story line.

What was most disappointing about W.E.B. Griffin and William E. Butterworth ’s story?

All it did was review past books. I can go back and listen to the original books if I want that.

What does Dick Hill bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Dick Hill is a fantastic narrator. I feel bad he lent his name and talents to such a poorly written story.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Hazardous Duty?

    There was nothing going on.

    Any additional comments?

Griffin has taken what was an awesome character in Castillo and now does nothing with him. This whole book was about trashing to office of president and going back to the past to review previous adventures. All through the book I was hoping something would start to happen, then comes the feeble idea and comparison to MASH. There was not an original idea in the whole book. I definitely have gone from can't wait for the next episode to a confirmed "I will never waste my time reading another of his novels. Don't waste your time or money on this book.
