In a time long forgotten, a preternatural event threw the seasons off balance. In a land where summers can last decades and winters a lifetime, trouble is brewing. As the cold returns, sinister forces are massing beyond the protective wall of the kingdom of Winterfell. To the south, the king's powers are failing, with his most trusted advisor mysteriously dead and enemies emerging from the throne's shadow.

I enjoyed this book, from start to finish. Even went on to buy the rest of the books, and I am currently on the third. I must say that this is not my typical genre, but this story just pulled me in! When I reached the end, I wanted more. I can't wait to listen to the remaining books.

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

Unfortunately, I guessed the end to early. That being said, I was still entertained. The Voice of each Character came through loud and clear. I was drawn in to each twist and turn and was happily rewarded with each chapter. It was easy for me to feel the drama with in each character

Entertaining. Simple. Teen adventure. It was a good interlude between heavier longer novels. I liked it well enough.

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

The narrator was entertaining enough. Perhaps it just was not my type of story. I was entertained, but not enthralled. Other than the fact that I hate to not finish a book, I Could have easily just left it .....

Lisbeth Salander—the heart of Larsson’s two previous novels—lies in critical condition, a bullet wound to her head, in the intensive care unit of a Swedish city hospital. She’s fighting for her life in more ways than one: if and when she recovers, she’ll be taken back to Stockholm to stand trial for three murders. With the help of her friend, journalist Mikael Blomkvist, she will not only have to prove her innocence, but also identify and denounce those in authority.

On the eve of publication, the two reporters responsible for the story are brutally murdered.

I often feel let down when I move on to the next book in a series...not with this series. I am actually writing this review several months after I have listened to it. I was looking for a new book from Audible, but decided I want to re-listen to this series!

Why we think it’s a great listen: How do you one-up a book that’s already a global literary phenomenon? Hire Simon Vance to (flawlessly) interpret the loves, lives, and murders of Sweden’s cold and secret-filled world. A spellbinding amalgam of murder mystery, family saga, love story, and financial intrigue. It's about the disappearance 40 years ago of Harriet Vanger, a young scion of one of the wealthiest families in Sweden.

I typically listen to books on my long commutes. This book, I listened to everywhere--at home doing the dishes, knitting, etc. Then when I finished--I downloaded the remainder of the series and kept on going! Thrilling, twists and turns....I could not get enough!
