I received a review copy of this book from Netgalley and was totally stoked! I chanced upon the series on audible and could simply not wait to read what is going to happen next...
So I started reading but all was not well. Alex did not sound so strong in my mind. Tom sounded like a girl. And and and I had a lightbulb moment. The story is even better than the proceeding two. The pace was fast and action packed BUT what was missing was their voices. Alex sounds deep, strong and wise beyond her years. Tom sounds tough, sexy and mysterious. In my mind they all sounded like me!

So I waited and bought this audible copy and voila! Lightbulb. I was missing the narrator! Katy is totally brilliant. Alex when calm and collected sounds strong and self assured. In crises she breathes harder and her voice rise an octave or 8 but she is still undoubtedly Alex!

The story, the final in this series is truly brilliant and even better than the first two books in the series.
By now you know how I feel about the narrator.

Overall this series has made it to my top 5 series of all times.
I am generally not a fan of female narrators but I must confess that I will need to reasses my take on the male vs female narrator brilliance.

Can I give it more than 5*? I really want to give it a perfect 10!

In the heart of Atlanta, the Michaluk virus has escaped the CDC, and its effects are widespread and devastating. The virus infects nearly everyone in its path, turning much of the population of the southeastern United States into homicidal cannibals. As society rapidly crumbles under the hordes of infected, three people – Ethan Bennett, a Memphis police officer; Cade Alton, his best friend and former IDF sharpshooter; and Brandt Evans, a lieutenant in the US Marines – band together against the oncoming crush of death and terror sweeping across the world.

The Becoming on audio by Jessica Meighs
An interesting story which I think has a lot of potential to become a really good series. A bit predictable the fact that one of the series darlings get killed off very early in the story gave it a bit of a Martin air but this did not keep up and in the end it was much like reading a good old favourite.
It felt comfortable in its predictability.
I think if you have a love for post apocalyptic worlds, then this one will do well on your audio device.

    A good catch.
This is not my first Michael Connely book and it will not be my last.
I listeed to this on audio and our main protagonist, the receiver of a heart of a murder victim gets tagged-along in organized crime and he takes the reader with him.

The pace is fast. The secondarycharacters cool and engaging and the little romance the book has adds to the plot.

A mustread if you love this genre!

I must say, I enjoyed this book far more than I expected too. Mara is a bit of a whiny little witch. She seems to wait to be saved by everybody until it becomes clear that she is not going to be saved if she does not save herself. But....she has a friend. Gus. I adore Gus. He is fun, flamboyant. And totally outrageously addictively gay.

The start of the book is very slow, the middle is well....the middle and the end goes at a break neck speed full of sex, hexing and ghosts and most of the time, especially at the start the book had me in stitches. Gus is truly a riot and I absolutely adore him.

I cannot really tell you guys why I enjoyed it as much as I did. It might have a lot to do with Marie Rose, the narrator who did a brilliant job with this book. It might be Gus. It might be that it was far better than I expected. Who knows.

In the end I cannot wait to listen to more in this series and more books narrated by Marie Rose

A continuation of the serendipitous saga commenced in Raving Violet, Valerie Gilbert’s first non-fiction collection of short stories, Memories, Dreams & Deflections: My Odyssey Through Emotional Indigestion, picks up the sojourn of this sassy, single mystic, mired in her mind and cloistered above the streets of New York City. This volume explores Valerie’s intrepid and irreverent search for healing inside and out (both medical and mystical), the quest for peace (and quiet) and, as always, true love.

This is the second book I have listened to by this author.
Although I do not agree with her taken on love, life and misery case in point a contract of souls between murderer and victim I found that in this book in particular much of what she has to say makes sense.
No fluff no sex in the city although in my minds eye I did call up Carry Bradshaw in Manhatten while listening to this. Much of the musings of Carry and Valerie has one thing in common - how life influence us and we it.
I did not listen to this book all in one go. Certain sections like the chapter on tort reform was at first glance not a perfect fit in this compilation until near the end when the authors passion comes out loud and clear and you realize...oh heck. Naturally. Media influence all we do. This particular chapter was facinating.
Other chapters like where the author meets her ex-husband in a park after a few years and loves everything about him, not because he has turned into the perfect man or because she got high..rather because of what she learned from him, took from their time together was sweet and funny.

The narrator and author is one and the same and although this is a thing I would discourage most, this woman has classical training and the clarity and obvious vested interest she brings to the production is clear.

I would not hesitate to listen to more books narrated and or penned by this gifted author.

    Lightning by Dean Koontz

I read this book when I was a teenager and it made a massive impression on my mind.
So when I got this on audio was in turn excited and nervous to revisit my old friend.
As a teenager this story had me glued to the page and as it turned out as an adult it again kept me glued.
The narrator in this book was amazing. The man is a pure genius. From the voice of an 8 year old girl to a Nazi spy to an 8 year old boy this narrator had an amazing range.

Now as an adult I loved this book for the authors singular talent to pace out a story with a bit of supernatural events and tons of normal human up and downs so that this time around I loved the human aspect. The true horror only humans can bring upon one another. The author created a cast of characters so nice, so lovable so evil....i loved the good guys. Abhorred the bad guys and this time around I got what Churchill was up to in the bunker. Ok so I am slow. I know that.

So if you love to read a brilliantly well written time thriller. This is for you.
If you love a well narrated audiobook about the human nature, then this book is for you. Whether your 14 or 41, this book is for you!

My favorite book by this author thus far.
I listened to this book on audio and I much prefer this narrator to the female narrator of previous books.
The story is a retelling of the hi- and low - lights of the authors experience in veterinarian offices due to her pets.

Some is funny some is sad. All is entertaining.

Recession-Proof Graduate is a wildly popular career guide that's been downloaded over 150,000 times. This audiobook is frequently shared among students, teachers, parents, counselors, freelancers, and entrepreneurs. It's been integrated in the coursework at a number of universities, given away as a graduation gift, and translated to Italian. When I changed my strategy, I landed a handful of dream gigs, got to work with amazing people like Tim Ferriss and Ramit Sethi, and found myself turning down multiple paid job offers.

The Junkie Quatrain. By Peter Clines narrated by Christian Rummel and Therese Plummer.

This is a short audible book narrated by Christian Rummel and Theresa Plummer depending on whether the main protagonist is male or female. The only thing negative I can say about Christian is that his range for female voices are all nasal and that confuses the listener. On the other hand he really shines when he does male voices ranging in tone, speed and accent for the various characters. Theresa does a brilliant job in making her characters pop.
    4* for the narrators.

Now the book. It is not 14. The book that got me hooked on the author. It is far more like his ex-hero series which is not bad but it is not 14.
However, the twists, the irony and the basic probability of the happenings in these 4 loosely connected zombie stories sure is worth the read /listen.

I would recommend this book to all lovers of the genre

Stiller's imaginative performance as Mitty is the perfect re-introduction to the classic character and a great preface to the upcoming film, for longtime fans and new listeners alike.

The events and people mentioned in this book span 13 generations, covering nearly three centuries of family history. The story begins in 1495 when the Bruner family lived in Switzerland. It continues with the 1729 immigration of the Bruner family from Germany to America. Many generations of the Bruner family have been proud to call America their home. This branch of the Bruner family settled in Maryland and later relocated to Ohio. The village of Brunersburg in Defiance County, Ohio was first settled by this family.

I prefer this authors stories about her puppies and pocket pets. This book I think will have greater appeal to people interested in this particular families genealogy.

The one facet I really loved was the fact that the author gave the origins and meanings of some of the more popular family names. I found this really interesting.

A fast read and if this is within your area of interest then I am sure you will enjoy the way the narrator interprets the story.
