Former military cop Jack Reacher makes it all the way from snowbound South Dakota to his destination in northeastern Virginia, near Washington, D.C.: the headquarters of his old unit, the 110th MP. The old stone building is the closest thing to a home he ever had. Reacher is there to meet - in person - the new commanding officer, Major Susan Turner, so far just a warm, intriguing voice on the phone. But it isn’t Turner behind the CO’s desk. And Reacher is hit with two pieces of shocking news, one with serious criminal consequences, and one too personal to even think about.

There was one factor that the terrorists didn’t take into account when they struck the Capitana oil platform off the coast of Colombia - slaughtering much of the crew and blowing up the platform - and that was the Capitana crew chief, Dewey Andreas. Dewey, former Army Ranger and Delta, survives the attack, rescuing as many of his men as possible. But the battle has just begun....

What made the experience of listening to Gunmetal Magic the most enjoyable?

This was a fun listen. It sort of has it all. monsters, futuristic event, mystery, love story, a little bite of it all.

What did you like best about this story?

The performance was good, and the story had it moments of laughter to it. This maybe more of something written as a chick type of book and if it were made into a movie we guys would enjoy it s well.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Like the male female inter play the were both messed up especially the female side sort of normal. (Boy is this going to get me in trouble.) If you like Janis Evonivich's Stephanie Plum you'll enjoy this book.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

This would be a good special effect movie and could be generally over all fun movie. As stated a chick flick with a twist the guys would like.

Ken Follett's World Without End was a global phenomenon, a work of grand historical sweep beloved by millions of readers and acclaimed by critics. Fall of Giants is his magnificent new historical epic. The first novel in The Century Trilogy, it follows the fates of five interrelated families - American, German, Russian, English, and Welsh - as they move through the world-shaking dramas of the First World War, the Russian Revolution, and the struggle for women's suffrage.

Would you consider the audio edition of Fall of Giants to be better than the print version?

Not actually read the written version but, I prefer audio to written version because I listen to them while I work driving a truck.

The actual story is very good as an audio book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

No one character was a favorite as all characters personal stories interacted to make the so tie and show the things happening at the time.

What about John Lee’s performance did you like?

Over all performance was quite good and varying voices made the story come alive.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, however the book was quite long and it took a few days to hear it all.

    Any additional comments?

This book is interesting as it show the cruelty, arrogance, and the reason government are the way they are today. Well worth the listen.voices

Chase Prescott, media magnate, is nearly killed by a box of cyanide candy. Fearing for his life, he calls his former lover, retired reporter Henrietta O'Dwyer Collins. His request is simple: He'll assemble all the suspects if she will kindly point out the would-be murderer. On Chase's private island off the South Carolina coast, Henrie O meets the players in this deadly drama: Prescott's unstable young wife, his sullen stepson, and his toady of a secretary.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

The over all story was ok, the performance was good. Personally the story fell short. One of those female trying to be a male type story. The story starts off slow but gets better from middle to end. I suppose if you had nothing to do it would be an ok listen (not an insult or slam just a so so listen to me.)

If you’ve listened to books by Carolyn G. Hart before, how does this one compare?

First story I've listen to so nothing to compare it with from this author. I might try another and see if other stories are similar.

Have you listened to any of Kate Reading’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Honestly I don't know if I've hear her before or not. Performance was fine.

Could you see Dead Man's Island being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Maybe some type of B flick with unknowns getting a start.

    Any additional comments?

I like mysteries, detective, newspaper type of stories but this one was not for me.
