  • X Minus One: Old Time Radio, Sci-Fi Series

    • ORIGINAL (20 hrs and 5 mins)
    • By Ray Bradbury, Philip K. Dick, Robert A. Heinlein, and others
    • Narrated By Old Time Radio

X Minus One was a half-hour science fiction radio series broadcast from April 24, 1955 to January 9, 1958 in various timeslots on NBC. Initially a revival of NBC's Dimension X (1950-51), X Minus One is widely considered among the finest science fiction dramas ever produced for radio. The first 15 episodes were new versions of Dimension X episodes, but the remainder were adaptations by NBC staff writers, including Ernest Kinoy and George Lefferts, of newly published science fiction stories.

"Greatly enjoyable except for one Big error"

First off let me say this was greatly enjoyable, I listened to it while I was working and I would imagine a family sitting around the radio, the kids laying on the floor with their heads proped on their hands with maybe a bowl of popcorn in front of them. The stories took me out of my head and gave me great pleasure.

I would have rated this 5 stars but there are two Major errors, The book is listed as running for 20 or so hours but there are two stories repeted.

One is a story about a lifelike little doll that a little girl and mother buy in a shop and the other is people living under ground to excape the radiation from world war 3 and they are careful about genetic mutation and a perfect woman falls in love with a geneticly flawed man.

I dont know what they were repeted but it caused me confusion when the first one repeted and I thought somehow my played had somehow gone in to shuffle mode.

Other then that one error I honestly think it is a wonder audio book and any lovers of old radio drama will love it,

  • Star Wars (Dramatized)

    • ORIGINAL (5 hrs and 56 mins)
    • By George Lucas, Brian Daley (adaptation)
    • Narrated By Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels

This landmark production, perhaps the most ambitious radio project ever attempted, began when Star Wars creator George Lucas donated the story rights to an NPR affiliate. Writer Brian Daley adapted the film's highly visual script to the special demands and unique possibilities of radio, creating a more richly textured tale with greater emphasis on character development.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This book add much to the movie, It is multicast

    Which scene was your favorite?

When I heard Luke threading the Stone Needle to prove he is just as good as Biggs

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I heard this many many years ago when I used to listen to public radio and heard it for the very first time. When I had to go on a trip and was going to miss a chapter I put a cassete recorder next to the radio, set it to record and plugged both in to a timer. When i got home I hurried into my bedroom and rewinded the tape. I got to listen to the chapter with the added sound effects of KC our cat meowing for attention. I remember it fondly

Then the plague of living death spread around the globe. Despite the best efforts of the superheroes, the police, and the military, the hungry corpses rose up and overwhelmed the country. The population was decimated, heroes fell, and the city of angels was left a desolate zombie wasteland like so many others.

What happens in a world where superheros live and the living dead have taken over the world. A Little slow at times but a wonderful listen. I bought about a month ago and have listened to it twice now. I have recommended it to several friends and recommend you try it

Barrayaran Imperial Auditor Miles Vorkosigan can hardly disapprove—he’s been cheating death his whole life, on the theory that turnabout is fair play. But when a Kibou-daini cryocorp—an immortal company whose job it is to shepherd its all-too-mortal frozen patrons into an unknown future—attempts to expand its franchise into the Barrayaran Empire, Emperor Gregor dispatches his top troubleshooter, Miles, to check it out

Kevin says: "Its nice to come Home!"
    "Another wonderful Miles story"

I have checked every time I log on to this site for a new book from Lois and when i saw that it had finally happened I bought it right away. I agree with another review that it wasn't as gripping as some of her stories have been but it is still a wonderful story. The surprise at the end was totally unexpected and I being a guy will admit that I got chocked up and shed a few tears. I hope that Lois doesn't make us wait another 9 year for the next story. If you are new to this series I agree with others Start with Shards Of Honor or Warriors Apr, You will be sucked in and will never escape Lois attraction,
