The third book of the Darkness Chosen series finds New York Times best-selling author Christina Dodd at the top of her form. Adrik Wilder has a wild side indeed—the hot-tempered young man can change into a panther. But that is only one sign of Adrik’s dark nature, and when he embraces a life of wantonness, he encounters a passionate lover who may be more than his match.

Brenda says: "The whole series was gret but this is my faverite."

    Story

I loved this story of Adric's fall from grace and his path to redemption.

there are some pretty steamy love scenes, cool battles with demon men,a fiery plane crash, and a near death experience. this book moved from the first word to the last.

the whole series is great and I highly recommend all the books in it but Adric was my favorite of all the wilder boys.

the gift/curse of the devil to the men of this family is the ability to change into mighty beasts of prey, good health and the ability to heal almost instantly,... and only another demon/ or someone similarly gifted can kill you. COOL HUH? but there's a major down side.. the devil gets your soul when you die... but on earth?

the more Adric uses this gift the deeper he falls into the devils clutches, and the deeper in he goes the less human he is.. until he meets someone who makes him want to be a man again.

Adric's love (Karen) is no pushover and a great character you'll love.

and lastly Richard Ferone did an AMAZING job with the narration.
Paranormal romance readers this is a must read book!!!!

The historic hotel in Boonsboro has endured war and peace, the changing of hands, and even rumored hauntings. Now it’s getting a major face-lift from the Montgomery brothers and their eccentric mother. As the architect in the family, Beckett’s social life consists mostly of talking shop over pizza and beer. But there’s another project he’s got his eye on: the girl he’s been waiting to kiss since he was sixteen.

this is one book that you should read hard copy...

If I were to critique the performance I would say, the narrator does ok ( not great but ok) for the male voices, is mildly annoying for the female (except when he does an excited female ...then it bumps up several notches to painful) but its the children's voices that make you think of nails on a chalk board and other equally pleasant sounds.

the story itself seems ok... kind of an updated version of the Macade brothers series with its own flare.

but the story is eclipsed by the super bad quality of the narration... like I said the children's voices in particular... its a scary mix of whinny, screeching, with a distinct lisp and a touch of drunken slurring...

how the narrator was able to get all that into one character type (children and females) is beyond me but it made my ears want to bleed

skip the audio version of this book!... its less convenient but go for the hard copy

I was already disappointed by the first book of the trilogy.... bad narrator, slow plot, unimaginative storyline, Etc.... but i sucked it up and gave book 2 a try

in this they go from bad to worse... awful narration, slow unimaginative plot, and no true character development ( but at least the narrator didn't yell to infuse a little drama like the last... but maybe it would've made it a bit more interesting...who knows?)

my real problem was two fold... the narrator did very little to define the individual characters which made following any dialog exchange too much work to want to bother, and i felt no tug by the storyline or characters.

all in all not a shining example... definitely a disappointment

Where her ancestors’ blood and magic have flowed through generations - and where her destiny awaits.

    Story

this is a typical Nora Roberts trilogy... with yes the same characters wearing different names, different faces, and in different circumstances.

this is not a big problem for me as I always liked those characters but i know it can be a huge issue for those who are always wanting something different.

the main girl from this book Iona, is very much like Nell, (from ms Roberts three sisters island trilogy.) bright sunny, pathetically eager to please, just coming into her own powers...

Iona comes to ireland to find the dark witch. (her heritage).... joins with her cousins to fight ancient evil, meets the man of her dreams, decides she no-ones floor mat, and goes out and kicks some butt.

I could draw lots more character and plot parallels to other books Witten by Ms Roberts (keys trilogy, three sisters island, the pagan stone, Galhager- Irish jewels trilogy, etc.) but i wont

like i say if this is a problem don't try this series, instead try her vampire trilogy... that was unique for Nora Roberts (if a bit gory... but well they were vampires after all)... the first one was called Moragan's Cross

oh, i guess i should also mention that the beginning of the book was kind of slow and long... but good background for the present day story plot, and I didn't particularly care for the narrator (cant quite put my finger on why... but there it is)

I must say I had fun making the parallels to her other stories and finding the subtle turns in the plot... then i would say, "well thats a little different anyway", and i am making some predictions for the next 2 books... (I bet Im right... mostly anyways)

I love anything Terry Pratchett that includes Sam Vimes.

Sam Vimes, Mr Vimes, Commander Vimes, the Duke of Ank, and Blackboard Monitor Vimes = the best copper in any time (past or present)

not to spoil any thing but this book falls in between the life of the old Sam ( the drunk washed up old copper) and the new sam (husband and father, lord, and commander of the city watch)

while chasing a really nasty bad guy, Sam falls through a magical field and into his own troubled past.

with the help of the time monks Sam must teach himself (past sam) what it means to be a copper, catch the bad guy, straighten out history, and get home to his wife and soon to be born child... no problem, all he has to do is be himself... if only he could get a hard boiled egg too

    great book...good narration.... fun series

Not what I was expecting when I purchased this book...

1-this is a book geared towards a black (African american) audience... would I have gotten it anyway, had I known this? probably... still I didn't know

2- most of the characters where truly awful people (including the main 2 featured in the story summery)

3- there was way too much gratuities sex... the frequency, and similarity of each sex scene, became a static blur... making me want to say " and they kissed... skip to the end"

4- I suffered thru the first half of the book ...taking long breaks in between... because I needed closure... no such luck! out of my many wishes thru out the book including the main girl (Tamia) would be found out and have someone shout "Liar, liar, pants on fire"and/or get horribly disfigured somehow and lose all her man appeal... that Dominique would contract some horrible disease, lose all his money and his wife, and become totally impotent, and Brandon could find someone else and move on ... (3 out of 7 was what I got)

the second part of the book was much better (but only in comparison to the hard to read of the first half)... the last few chapters were actually pretty good , but end so abruptly that it leaves you shocked ( not to mention the bombshell that Tamia's sister drops on her in the very end)

in summery I would not reccomend this book to anyone I know...it was not only a waste of my time, but I now need to find a way to get rid of the bad taste it left in my mouth and mind

as a cautionary tale there are two points this book makes (in Tamia's words) " You always have a choice... and...Karma Sucks"

So says the woman who coded the spell, at least. The tall, dark, and handsome guy sent to assess her is a witch too (and no, that doesn't end the way you might think). Running all their daylight errands - from letting in the plumber to picking up some chilled O neg - gives her a look at the not-so-glamorous side of vampire life. Her rules are strict; relationships with vamps are strictly business, not friendship - and certainly not anything else. But then she finds her newest client, Cal, poisoned on his kitchen floor, and only Iris can help.

I think it says a lot about a writer if a reader can enter into the middle of a series, and can not only follow the thread of the story... but than has to to get the previous books that she has already missed.

try a Molly Harper book and enjoy
