I am finishing a second book and unfortunately agree with reviewers about very shallow story and no connection (or no believable connection) among the characters, immature dialogs. English is a second language for me, so I am not usually very sensitive to a choice of words used to describe various actions or feelings. I found myself cringing more than once by the choices in these serious, as the author trying to prove extra hard that she is intelligent...
I actually enjoyed the narration and don't think anybody could make the story better with a different narration.
All stories are true to ms. Kenyon style, so there are no surprises and exactly what I was expecting. Maybe I will get tired of these stories one of these days, and then, maybe not… I like them playing on the background and let my day pass more enjoyable. As usual, I love narration of Fred Berman. He is definitely on auto buy list for me when he narrates PRN romance novels.
I noticed some of the people did not care for Claudia Black, but I absolutely loved it, much more than Laural Merglington. I wish she narrated all the Meredith Gentry books. I usually feel very disappointed when narrators are switched in the middle of the series, but this switch happened to be an exception for me. I hope Claudia Black will narrate more books. I am putting her on my watch list for other books.
I enjoyed the book very much. I know there is not much activity in the story but I knew it ahead of time from other reviewers. So I did not have high expectations and found it very fast and light and, of course, sexy reading. Will I listen it again? Probably not... But it will be definitely on my list if I want something light playing on the background.
I enjoy the series very much! However, I feel very disappointed by a narrator's lack of respect for Russian language. There are maybe 10 words in the whole book relating to Russian folklore, since Kate has Russian ancestors. Every one of them is pronounce in such bad way, I can’t even recognize the words. I actually feel insulted. I realized, it is silly to have such strong emotions, due to the genre of the book… But at the same time, I expect a little of homework and a due diligence from a professional.
I really don't understand the business decision to use different narrators for the books in the same series with the same main characters. This is just an incompetence at its core.
I really liked the first narrator, the next two narrators are just absolutely horrible. I had to turn off Emily Durante narrating Tairen Souls and lost three credits, I just can't stomach her narration. And now this... Unfortunately, I have to put on my list "Do not buy" another book narrated by Ms. Durante.
I don't think Ms. Zaires had enough material for three books. A second and a third book was a huge stretch just to make a book. I did not have very high expectations due to genre of this category, but a combination of a poor story which was mostly a repetition of the first book with a bad narration made me regretting spending my credit.
I wished so much Kathleen Godwin continued narrating the second book. For the most part, I found narration tolerable by Kitty Hendrix (there are plenty narrators that are so much worse), however, I found almost impossible to listen to sex scenes…. I highly recommend to get a book instead. I would buy this book again with a different narrator.
I just could not enjoy this book, either the story or the narration… A sexy male warrior with a very feminine behavior just doesn’t sit right with me. I enjoy gay relationships just as much as straight relationships in the book as long as they behave as they are presented. I like male warrior behave as a male regardless of his sexual preferences. Obviously, this is just my personal preference. I regret spending my credit on this book.
This is my first book by Maya Banks. I can see why so many women like this book. However, it is way to cheesy for me. I usually don't mind cheesy romance novels as long as they are paranormal and sci-fi.
Kirsten Potter is absolutely fantastic, as usual.
The book was broken into three parts and sold as three different books. Tough, I enjoyed the story, it most definitely NOT worth 3 credits. One credit yes, but not three…. I feel a little cheated.
Theresa Plummer is a fantastic narrator. I am adding her to my favorite narrators list to watch out for.
Even though Kalen and Mackenzie annoyed me to death, I still managed to enjoy this book. Kalen seems not being able to grow up and Mackenzie behaves like uneducated young lady, especially considering that she supposed to be a shrink... I was hoping for more in this in this book. I doubt I will listen it again, but I definitely do not regret spending a credit.
