  • Man's Search for Meaning

    • UNABRIDGED (4 hrs and 47 mins)
    • By Viktor E. Frankl
    • Narrated By Simon Vance
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Internationally renowned psychiatrist, Viktor E. Frankl, endured years of unspeakable horror in Nazi death camps. During, and partly because of his suffering, Dr. Frankl developed a revolutionary approach to psychotherapy known as logotherapy. At the core of his theory is the belief that man's primary motivational force is his search for meaning.

Samantha says: "Touching Story of Resilience"

Viktor Frankl's book has two main parts: a) very moving description of his experiences in different concentration camps and how he dealt with suffering and pain; b) an introduction of his school of psychotherapy ("logotherapy")partly derived from these experiences.
Really inspiring, even if today you are not suffering. Great help to remember in difficult times.

    • ABRIDGED (5 hrs and 14 mins)
    • By Joseph Campbell
    • Narrated By Ralph Blum

Joseph Campbell transformed the way we view mythology, weaving traditional wisdom together with the modern struggle for identity and spiritual depth. This program brings new life to his brilliant poetic vision.

Stephen says: "Unabridged Verison Is Needed"
"better (or also) buy the book"

it's a fascinating topic, the general model of looking at myths in all cultures is really intriguing. the author mentions 100s of examples which are hard to follow in audio format. i recommend to read the book as a good enhancement to the audio file.

  • The Moral Sense

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 41 mins)
    • By James Q. Wilson
    • Narrated By Nadia May

Wilson admits in the preface of his book that "virtue has acquired a bad name". However, people make some kind of reference to morality whenever they discuss whether or not someone is nice, dependable, or decent; whether they have a good character; and the aspects of friendship, loyalty, and moderation that are all informed by morality.

    Jamie says: "thick but satisfying"
"very interesting, too long for audio format"

it's a very important subject and the author presents lots of perspectives on the issue; it's just hard to follow the detail just listening
