Wonderful author, wonderful narration. I loved the book, loved the character development, however, it did make me sad because the book rang so true one couldn't help but feel somewhat sad especially if you have a son! Pat Conroy is outstanding and I am sure this book will remain in your mind forever!
Stephen King had me since 1976 when I picked up 'Salem's Lot and had to drop my 8 am class because I could not put the book down. I then devoured every Stephen King book I could find with my personal favorite being The Stand. He is just a master story teller! However, once I started Misery I could not finish it as it truly was just too miserable! So I stayed away for years (but did read The Stand again). I then inched my way back with Bag of Bones, Duma Key, 11/22/63 (loved it), Dr. Sleep and Mr. Mercedes. So glad to be back again in his web of good and evil. If you have the same feelings I expressed in this review get the audiobook you will enjoy it!
I enjoy listening to books, I get much work done with my I-pod. Even though I enjoyed listening to this book I did not like it. When I read I feel like I am hanging out with the characters. There was not one main character in this book I would ever want to be in their company. I could understand the interest in this book but there is nothing positive about reading this. Make a different selection!
I am a big fan of Pat Conroy's books. I think he tells a great story and I enjoyed how he explored each character's past. Narrator was excellent also.
Love me some Virgil Flowers, but this was just ok. Usually the reader follows Flowers through a personal journey along with his detective work, although that was in here not too much depth and he is such an interesting character. Also I kept looking for the phrase that is usually said once in the book when someone again meets up with ______ Flowers, but it either wasn't there or I missed it and I always enjoyed that calling card. Anyway if you are a Virgil fan you will of course read it. Not sorry I bought it as I said love me some Virgil Flowers. I did like the narration.
This was just a great story and a great narrator worth your credit and worth buying.
I listen to books while I walk and this book kept me walking!! It was a good story, good main character and great narration. I liked it so much I have just download another book by same author and narrator, hope it too keeps me walking!
This is the first audible book I didn't finish. Thought it was tedious. The only thing I really liked about it was the title.
I love all the Prey books and will continue to read them as long as Sanford writes them. I liked the way he went back to the past but something about this book fell short for me perhaps it was the narrator. I think he took away from the story and I truly hated the way he did the female voices made them all sound like idiots. Anyway bottom line is it is still a Lucas Davenport book and who isn't going to read it? Now I want a new Virgil Flowers book!
Easy listen and much better than the movie! Can't go wrong with a Connelly book.
