I lemmed it 2/3 through. I got tired of waiting for something to captivate me.
Unlike the other books that, although wonderful, are a little slow. This book cooks the entire way. A fantastic ending to an incredible journey.
I have loved all of the psychic eye books except Lethal Outlook. I was a little concerned Mrs Laurie was loosing her touch. That was a hollow concern. Deadly Forecast is one of the best, if not the best so far. The only one of the series that comes close, or surpasses, is Vision Impossible: I haven't decided yet. What I really like about this book is the dual timelines of each chapter. That approach, which is new to this series, makes for incredible suspense ... and of course Elizabeth Michaels' narration only enhances the drama. I Found myself laughing out loud several times. Deadly forecast is a must for fans of this series and anyone else wanting a funny, suspenseful, entertaining thriller.
Like the proverbial train-wreck, I could not put this book down. It is unbelievable the access this young man procured to some of the most notorious killers of our time. Unfortunately, the one-upmanship games he thought he was playing with these serial killers eventually contributed to his suicide. Some of the things he did for this access are mind-blowing and would affect anyone. In 2006, Jason Moss committed suicide likely as a result of the insight he gained into the killer mind. Fortunately, for us, he left an incredible look in the psyche of evil. I highly recommend it.
As for the narration: because I listen to my books with the narration speed set between 1.5x and 2.0x, it was not that bad. I find that the faster narration speeds are more conversational. As a result, it was ok and, by a huge margin, far better than Allyson Johnson's narration of the Honour Harrington series which sounds like the old computer generated voices.
I was a little trepid at first, but WOW ... this is a book about following Christ and living by the Gospels. The religion of Jesus rather than about Jesus. This is one sentence that sums up his views "The wanton abuse of natural resources is fundamentally incompatible with a view of creation as God's handiwork." If more people had this in their heart, the world would be a better place. Amen. 5 Stars
I loved the first half. It was amazingly enlightening. The second half was very odd and far fetched.
I have been doing a lot of searching lately and although I still haven't come to terms with exactly what I believe, this book sure helped.
I loved the first 4 books of this series. In fact, I was down right addicted, but since Stephen was written out, the series just hasn't been the same to me. At least I still have Laurie's Psychic Eye series which is the best series ever. I love Abby Cooper and thought MJ and Gilley would be the same but it has not turned out to be.
I found myself addicted right from the start and the richness of the characters kept me reading. However, there was never a crescendo. No climax at all. I was very disappointed.
Ehrman's scholarship is impeccable. He will either strengthen, weaken, or change your ideas about your faith. Incredible 5 Stars
An awesome ending to an incredible trilogy: the conclusion of a tome of lifes's lessons and spirituality. 75 + hours of masterful storytelling punctuated with amazing narration. 5 stars for the entire trilogy. I couldn't put them down.
