I didn't read the print version.
Actually, I can't think of one. This was definitely a different formula than anything I've read before. While it was melancholy, it was interesting and I finished it within 24 hours. I think I might be addicted to Audible.
I don't really have an answer for that.
I pretty much did.
One of my favorites!
I suppose it's like other memoirs of people from my generation.
Well, he is the main character.
I didn't want it to end.
I do hope he writes more. He has a way of making the reader feel like he's written it just for you.
I like the fact Rob Lowe himself reads it. He makes you feel like he's talking directly to you.
When he talks about his kids, got me teary eyed every time.
When he was talking about taking his oldest to college, really moved me. I don't even have kids, I have no idea why it got me all misty in the eyes, but I found myself crying.
Great book overall. I hope he writes more.
The fact that Rick Springfield read it.
He wrote this book with such gut-wrenching honesty and such heartfelt warmth, it leaves you feeling like he's a close friend.
He is the character, but his idea of Mr. D was pretty darn funny.
Very good book. So much I never knew about the author.
I've listened to The Help and The Poison Wood Bible twice. I might listen to this again especially after listening to the author again to find out it's based on real people.
The author at the end tells how she came up with the idea to write the story. I had no clue until then it is based on real sisters. Fascinating. Loved it.
I like them both. I've listened to Jenna Lamia in a few other books. I really do enjoy almost anything she reads.
If you have reservations about listening to this book, throw them to the side. It is an excellent book. I did not want to turn it off.
If I answer what would have made Allegiant better, I'd spoil it for people that want to read it.
I warn you, it's just not good.
Maybe. I'm not sure. I'm really really displeased with this ending.
Tobias a/k/a Four
Not so much.
STOP READING IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK! SPOILER ALERT.
I like to listen to these kinds of books for the warm happy fuzzy ending. I want to escape reality. Killing off main characters is not warm and fuzzy!
If I reveal what disappointed me, I'll ruin the book for others. I just don't even understand what the author's thought process was in writing this book. The killer is glorified and continues on like he's supposed to be a character in a new sequel? WTF? It's like I'm watching the show that's on Fox, The Following, where the good guys are bumbling idiots and the bad guys seem to outsmart the good guys at ever turn.
Seriously, what was the point in this book?
I like books where the good guy wins at the end. I understand the main character of the novel having some flaws. I don't mind overlooking a few quirks. I understand how that makes him/her more identifiable with the reader. But what happens after the first four hours of this book -- well, I just don't understand why after one and half books the author did this. Stupid.
I cannot even find the words to express my disappointment with this book. Terrible.
Well, the middle of the book where good guy should kick some A double S S does not happen. WTF?! I'm so mad.
With the first two questions, Audible clearly knows I do not like this book so why would you ask me a favorite scene? There wasn't one. It was horrible.
Take a guess!!!!
Yeah. What is the point in this book???
Funny that the review question asks if I could sum up in three words, but there is a minimum of 15 words for this box.
Well, I can't sum it up in three words be/c I'm just not creative.
It's a true story. I can't really pick one part out. What I can say is that I have read/listened to three of Eric Blehm's books and he's one of my new favorite authors. If you have not read/listened to Fearless, stop reading this now and go get it! You will never forget that book. This one is great too, but I think Fearless let's you connect more whereas this one I can't find one particular person I've related to or connected with.
That's not to say this isn't just as good. It is a wonderful book.
I don't really have one.
If you haven't listened/read Fearless by same author, GET IT! The Last Season is also an engrossing read. I don't think it's in audio format, but if you like to read it's a great book! I anxiously await for more from Eric Blehm.
It's funny and honest. I never watched The Office, but I am loving her show The Mindy Project. Very smart and funny actress/author.
For me, when she talks about her normal weight as opposed to the rest of Hollywood being size zero. To me, she looks great and I love she's not a stick figure and is confident.
I don't know.
She had a photo shoot where she had to choose something to wear and all the clothes were insanely small girls with normal figures. She went into the bathroom stall and cried.
Love this girl and looking forward to her career!
Cassandra Campbell is one of my favorite narrators. She does an amazing job.
There are honestly too many to recount. I got goosebumps at several points. This book really makes you think. I did not want to stop listening. I feel like I know the Lacks family now. Great book.
Same answer as above.
Take the chance on this book. There was definitely some medical jargon that I'd have to listen to a few times, and probably could go back and listen to again to fully grasp it, but the author does a pretty good job of making it understandable for the person that has very little understanding of science. Just an incredible book and amazing story.
