Now that her guardian and sister, Lily, is off on her wedding trip on the continent, Annie is about to make one last attempt to marry Arthur before her sister can stop her. But Annie doesn't count on the best friend of her new brother-in-law, Jordan Holloway, Earl of Ashbourne, fouling up her plans. Jordan has vowed to keep an eye on the mischievous Miss Andrews. He has two weeks to keep her out of trouble and to keep her from running away again.

    Story

This is the second book in the Secret Brides series and very enjoyable. If you like historical romance you will like this book. Annie, the heroine was very funny and had a lot of spunk, I like spunky strong females not whiny whimpering ones. Jordan, the hero was sexy and witty. The banter between the two was great. It had a couple of hot and steamy sex scenes to boot. (a little more more sex would have been perfect) But there was enough so that the book is not rated G. Gotta have some sex in my books or its like reading/listening to a Disney movie.

The narrator did a great job. Credit worthy for sure, as was the first book. I am off to read/listen to the 3rd book, which according to some of the reviews was the best of the 3. I am excited to get started.

Witty, orphaned Tess Essex faces her duty: marry well and marry quickly, so she can arrange matches for her three sisters. But just when she begins to think that all might end well, one of her sisters bolts with a horse-mad young lord, and her own fiancé just plain runs away. Which leaves Tess contemplating marriage to the sort of man she wishes to avoid - one of London's most infamous rakes. Tess consents to marry him, but it may be for the worst reason of all. Absurd as she knows it to be, she may have fallen utterly in love....

    Story

This story was just okay, not bad, not great either. I really really liked the hero, Lucious Felton, he was awesome! The heroine a bit wishy washy at times.

The switching back and forth between the sisters and who they were going to marry was a bit confusing and I didn't really care for that. First one sister is going to go after Mayne then the other will go for Lucious then maybe Holbrook, then they switch, or get jilted.... that was a bit annoying. Then one sister Imogen was sort of stupid and annoying at times.

There was some good chemistry between Tessa and Lucious and there was a couple of nicely written sex scenes, so if you wondering if there is sex in Eloisa James books there is. Not explicit sex, all romantic sex scenes.

Later on in the book it does get better though. It didn't turn me off to read the next book in the series but I also started a different book and will come back to this series later.

The plot and story line was not the best and like I said these girls couldn't make up their minds. But there is a lot of dialogue throughout the entire book and that was great! (I like lots of dialogue)

As for the narration, its Susan Duerden so you know your getting the emotion and the men sound like men, mostly they all sound the same though. and of course you get the sing song voice and drawn out consonants. But she is far from the worst narrator.

It's going to take a Beast to tame this Beauty. The Enigma Earl. The Lord Phantom. That's what the gossip pages call Lord Greenwich, a mysterious nobleman who doesn't show his face in London Society. With a reputation like that, it's no wonder that Lydia Montgomery is horrified to be dragged from bed and packed off to live with him to save her mother from penury. While Lydia has received all of the training a lady should endure, she's decidedly un-ladylike.

This was a good story. The characters were great, The hero was awesome. The heroine is funny, smart and very witty. Not a simpering whiny heroine. They had some great chemistry together, and a some nicely written sex scenes.

There is plenty of dialogue throughout the book, a good story line and plot.

As for the narrator, She did a great job. All the men sound like men and all the characters have their own distinct voice. She puts emotion in her reading as well which is always a plus.

These stories are so much fun to read. I love the story lines and plots. The Ghost, Helena is hilarious, a total hoot!.

I really enjoyed the main characters. They had some great chemistry together. A nicely written sex scene. And there is so much dialogue it's great! I love lots of dialogue in my books. Never a dull moment.

The narration is absolutely fantastic, I am a big Johanna Parker fan, she is perfect for these southern Louisiana books. The men sound like men and that is always a great thing.

    Story

Okay where to begin with this review.... I know, the crayola box! I have never in my life read a book with with so many color descriptions. Not kidding, not exaggerating. I did a search for a few colors in my kindle iPad app.

The Color Blue got 17 results, a few for example:"bottomless azure blue". "blue and charcoal shadows", "blue eyes, pale and rhuemy", "into the silvery blue horizon".

The Color Honey/Honeyed got 18 results, a few for example: "honey bronzed skin", "thick honeyed waves", "cascading mass of honeyed blonde hair" "the sunlight poured like honey through the dormered windows".

The Color Green got 52 results, a few for example: "his eyes were a bright laughing green", "hooded green eyes against warm umber skin", "eyes to a fierce, brilliant green shining and lucent like an emerald held in the light", " sharp points of burning fell green, flat and dark with animal rage" and so on and so on like I said 52 results for the color green.

Color Emerald got 9 results, I guess emerald could fall under the green category giving Green a whopping 61 results.

The Color Yellow, Charcoal and Orange only got 5 results each. Must not be favorite colors from the crayola box.

The Color Amber got 13 results, a few for example: "the muscles in his abdomen, ambers and charcoals and deepest grays outlined planes and angles of his flesh", "her closed eyelids to burnished ambers and golds", " the candlelight glowed amber and honey against her hair", " contained gorgeous deep flecks of amber and citrine embedded that sparked fire into there cool emerald depths"

And the most popular color for this book is Black with 86 results! At this point I don't need to give examples, I think everyone gets the idea of what I am talking about.

I would rename this book The Crayola Crayon Box and be done with it.

Its hard to enjoy a book when every other sentence contains a color description. So, no I did not like this book at all.

As for the narration, its Justine Eyre so it was fine. Not the best not the worst. The men sound like men and that's always good.

If you want to read about colors this is a great book if not then I suggest you skip it. it was extremely annoying (in a very dark cloudy blackish, greenish way).

    Story

This has been a great series so far. I really liked the hero Brandt and heroine Olympia. Very strong characters. They made a great match, had great chemistry and a few very well written sex scenes.

I love all the gifts the Wherlocks and Vaughns have, it is just a little paranormal thrown into a historical romance.

I have to say that there are so many children in these books and they are all so amazing and very funny. Along with some other fantastic secondary characters.

There is so much great witty dialogue in all of these books. Great story lines and plots that all come together very nicely. And the villains are truly villains to the extreme which makes the story even better.

As for the narration. Ashford McNab does a great job, all the men sound like men and everyone has their own distinct voice. She does a really good job on the kids's voices.

I got this book free with my Kindle Unlimited subscription and 2.99 on audible. What a great deal.

    Story

This is not my favorite that's for sure. The first 3 books I gave 5 stars, this one barely made 3 stars. It was somewhat boring and uneventful in comparison to the previous books in this series.

The hero is not so much a hero, he is pretty blah. The heroine I do like very much. I also like her back story and her family, including her butler, Max! She was strong, smart and witty.

There is lots of dialogue throughout the book which is great, I do like lots of dialogue. There is sex so this is not a rated G book.

The story line and plot were a good concept, and it started out real good, but then the story just got lost and there seemed to be too much filler nonsense. The opposite of the previous books. They were full of anticipation and never a dull moment, whereas this book I had to skim pages to get to something happening. Just meh...

I will of course still read the next book and hope the author just had some writer's block with this story. I am looking forward to Lady Olympia's book.

As for the narrator, she is good. The men sound like men, the ladies sound like ladies and she does give most everyone their own distinct voice.

This is such a great story. I am loving this series. Fantastic characters. The hero and heroine, Hartley and Alethea were wonderful together, great chemistry. Not forced or fake. Some nicely written sex scenes.

The dialogue throughout the book is fantastic, witty, funny and flows so nicely. The plot and story line is great. I love these Wherelocks and Vaughns with their gifts.

Always something going on, not a dull moment. And the villains are truly villains.

The narration is just great (even better on 1.25 speed). All the characters have their own distinct voices and the men sound like men. Could use a little more emotion with her character reading, but she is still very good.

I totally recommend this whole series. Fast paced stories, all of them.

The story line and plot are great, I love the "gifts" the Wherelocks and the Vaughns have. There is so much dialogue throughout the entire series. So many things happening. Never a dull moment. I enjoyed all the secondary characters as well. The kids were especially great, and so funny.
