A highly infectious, deadly virus from the central African rain forest suddenly appears in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. There is no cure. In a few days, 90 percent of its victims are dead. A secret military SWAT team of soldiers and scientists is mobilized to stop the outbreak of this exotic "hot" virus. The Hot Zone tells this dramatic story, giving a hair-raising account of the appearance of rare and lethal viruses and their "crashes" into the human race. Shocking, frightening, and impossible to ignore, The Hot Zone proves that truth really is scarier than fiction.

What made the experience of listening to The Hot Zone the most enjoyable?

The story does exemplify that truth is scarrier than fiction. The narration is well done however when a writer/narrator does a technical reading there needs to be someone to "edit" pronunciations of technical terms/names. There were a few that were so jumbled that I had to try to spell out in order to determine of what he was writing. (exp. "pseudomonas")

England, 1959: Laurel Nicolson is 16 years old, dreaming alone in her childhood tree house during a family celebration at their home, Green Acres Farm. She spies a stranger coming up the long road to the farm and then observes her mother, Dorothy, speaking to him. And then she witnesses a crime.

    Story
Would you try another book from Kate Morton and/or Caroline Lee?

probably not, NormallyI enjoy a story that moves from time to time but this on audio was difficult for me to follow and though the naration was well done, I personally don't care for most British narrators.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

the mystery of the murdered man and Dolly's past.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

    I believe so.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    yes, definately
