Internationally best-selling author Edward Rutherfurd has enchanted millions of readers with his sweeping, multigenerational dramas that illuminate the great achievements and travails throughout history. In this breathtaking saga of love, war, art, and intrigue, Rutherfurd has set his sights on the most magnificent city in the world: Paris. Moving back and forth in time across centuries, the story unfolds through intimate and vivid tales of self-discovery, divided loyalties, passion, and long-kept secrets of characters both fictional and real, all set against the backdrop of the glorious city.

    Story

This is certainly a long story with quite a bit of history woven into the tale. Unfortunately it jumps from era to era and then back again. So, it's very hard, for me anyway, to remember how each person is related. I really think I would have enjoyed it more had it stayed in chronological order. The characters might have developed more fully. As it is, i never felt like I was able to develop a relationship with any of the characters because as soon as I would really start to enjoy a character the story jumps. I have not quite finished the story, I have less than 3 hours left on the audio but I'm so bored I cannot wait for it to end.

This second novel in the Miss Peregine's Home for Peculiar Children series begins in 1940, immediately after the first book ended. Having escaped Miss Peregrine's island by the skin of their teeth, Jacob and his new friends must journey to London, the peculiar capital of the world. Along the way, they encounter new allies, a menagerie of peculiar animals, and other surprises. Complete with dozens of newly discovered (and thoroughly creepy) vintage photographs, this new adventure will delight fantasy fans of all ages.

    JACK says: "Peculiar and Suspenseful"
"A continuing story you have to read."

    Story

If you read the first book you should continue the journey with this book. I almost wished I had re-read the first book before I started this one so I could place everyone. This is a somewhat dark tale but since it is written about children or child like adults it seems more fun. Will there be a 3rd?

Laugh-out-loud funny and deeply touching, Beth Hoffman's sparkling debut is, as Kristin Hannah says, "packed full of Southern charm, strong women, wacky humor, and good old-fashioned heart." It is a novel that explores the indomitable strengths of female friendship and gives us the story of a young girl who loses one mother and finds many others.

It is rare a book can make me laugh but this one did on several occasions. I loved the characters and the story. I was sad when it ended. I will read more of this author.

Picture a late-May morning in 1918, a time when Montgomery wore her prettiest spring dress and finest floral perfume - same as I would wear that evening.... Thus begins the story of beautiful, reckless, 17-year-old Zelda Sayre on the day she meets Lieutenant Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald at a country club dance. Fitzgerald isn’t rich or settled; no one knows his people; and he wants, of all things, to be a writer in New York. No matter how wildly in love they may be, Zelda’s father firmly opposes the match....

I am bored with many books and this story held my interest all the way through. It is well written and well performed. I can say I was sad when I was done. I will read more by this author. Jenna Lamia did a superb job.
