When Lily arrives at an antique jewelry fair, her bargain sensors go off left and right - but she also picks up a faint vibration of magic. Could the hard-bargaining merchant Griselda be a fellow practitioner? It certainly seems that way when a sudden fire sends panic through the crowd, and Lily discovers Griselda murdered in a way that nods to an old-fashioned witch hunt. A crime that hits close to home turns into an unwelcome flash from the past when the police bring in their lead suspect - Lily's estranged father.

If you could sum up Tarnished and Torn in three words, what would they be?

It is so much fun to continue wth a new and interesting mystery with Lily Ivory and the same friends that I have met throughout the first four books of this series. Having the same narrator with each has really lended continuity to the series. I hate that this is the last book, but I see that the author has the 6th installment coming out this summer. Can't wait! This nrrator has done a great job and is probably the best I have listened to. I am glad to see that she also narrates Juliet Blackwell's Haunted Home Rennovation Series which I am off to read (listen to, lol) next.

What other book might you compare Tarnished and Torn to and why?

Royal Spyness Series is similar to Juliet Blackwell's Witchcraft series in that it is a light tale of a mystery with a wonderful narrator, Katherine Kellgren is probably tied for first place in my mind with Xe Sands. She really brings the characters alive with different nuances in her voice and it is fun to meet up with the same characters and narrator as the series continues.

When Deputy Coroner Mattie Winston and her boss/best friend, Izzy, are called to the home of waitress and part-time model Shannon Tolliver, they find the ghoulish Halloween decorations a bit too authentic. Among the fake blood and skeletons is the corpse of Shannon herself. Since the whole town knows Shannon recently had a very public spat with her estranged husband, Erik, he's suspect number one. But Mattie happens to know Erik truly loved his wife, and is simply incapable of the brutal act - even if he owns the exact same caliber handgun as the murder weapon.…

Would you consider the audio edition of Scared Stiff to be better than the print version?

When you have a good narrator, listening to the audio version of a book is much better than reading the print version and this narrator is great. She really brings Mattie alive. I couldn't stop laughing during this book. Love the Anywhere, Nowhere and Somewhere bar description compared to Abbott and Costello

    Which scene was your favorite?

I also loved the scene when she drove her hearse to a scene and picked up the tail from a funeral home. It was somewhat predictable, but irresistible.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh!! I didn't want to stop reading.

    Any additional comments?

    Love Hurley!

When Mattie Winston catches her husband Dr. David Winston receiving some very special loving care from R.N. Karen Owenby, she quits her job and moves out. Mattie's best friend Izzy offers her a place to stay and suggests she'd be a natural as deputy coroner. Now, instead of taking patients' pulses, Mattie's weighing their hearts and livers. But Mattie's first homicide call turns out to be for none other than Nurse Karen, and even though she saw her ex in a heated argument with the newly deceased the night before, she refuses to believe David could be a killer.

What made the experience of listening to Working Stiff the most enjoyable?

The story is told with a wry humor and just enough slight improperness that I just have to smile or laugh out loud. Main character Mattie manages to get herself into the craziest of situations. Couldn't stop listening and went right into Book 2 which continued with all the same characters. Narrator is great.

Where does You're Next rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I normally like a softer read, but I really got caught up in this story. I will definitely try another from this author when I am ready for something more high risk again.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes, this story definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat. It didn't start out that way, but after about 3 or 4 hours the story really ramped up.

    Any additional comments?

Some of the images described were disturbing to me, but they are well written and the story has a good ending.

But, though the uniform is a little different, Callahan soon finds herself right back in the middle of a mystery when a client's pretty, pious 19-year-old nanny is gone...along with the jewelry, silver, and a few rather sensitive real estate documents. Before she knows it, the meticulous Callahan is up to her elbows in a case involving illicit love triangles, crooked business deals, long-distance scams, and a dead body.

What did you love best about Every Crooked Nanny?

Light! Fun! Interesting characters, and a mystery to solve.

    Any additional comments?

I think the narrator really helps to make the story for me. In just the first few minutes I knew I was really going to enjoy this book because I loved the narrator. The characters are fun, if a little gritty, but I like that and now I have another wonderful series of books to look forward to!

This time she's sent to Nice on a secret assignment that's nothing to sneeze at: recover the Queen's stolen snuff box. As much of an honor as it is to be trusted by Her Majesty, an even greater honor awaits Georgie in Nice - as Coco Chanel herself asks Georgie to model her latest fashion. But when a necklace belonging to the Queen is stolen on the catwalk, Georgie has to find two priceless items-and solve a murder. How's a girl to find any time to go to the casino?

Would you listen to Naughty in Nice again? Why?

I would definitely listen to Naughty in Nice again. In fact I will probably listen to this entire series again down the road. It is like one of those "watchable" movies like Pretty Woman with Julia Robert and Richard Gere...whenever I see it listed, I turn it on. I think it takes great talent to write a light mystery of this kind. the characters are well developed. Like Georgie, I am also in love with Darcy, and get a thrill when I hear Katherine Kellgren portray him with that Irish accent. He appears just enough to keep the sexual tension at a peak. This is not an easy feat for the writer, keeping the reader interested. It bothers me to read other reviewers say that this is not a story to "expand the brain" or "make you smarter". It all depends on what you are looking for. I think it takes great skill to write such an entertaining and delightful story, and I am learning quite a bit about human nature as I listen, which expands my brain and allows me to better interact on a day to day basis. Props to Rhys Bowen! After I finish this series, I have the Molly Murphy series bookmarked; another series with great reviews.

What did you like best about this story?

Juliet Blackwell and Xe Sands continue to enchant me with this fourth tale in this series. If you are an admirer of the cozy mysteries, do yourself a favor and start at the beginning of the series and you will be hooked. Don't be scared off by the idea of witchcraft. The author weaves it in nicely and in a way that makes you a believer.

In return she's been promised a trunkful of Victorian-era clothes recently discovered in a school storage closet. But Lily finds something else: the body of a wealthy patron of the school. In between running the store and seeing her new boyfriend, Max - a "mythbuster" who is uncomfortable with her witchcraft - she uses her sleuthing skills to try to solve the murder. Soon Lily senses something from the school's vintage clothes, but it's not the smell of mothballs - it's the unmistakable aura of evil intent.
