You may know me best as Meredith Nic Essus, princess of faerie. Or perhaps as Merry Gentry, Los Angeles private eye. In the fey and mortal realms alike, my life is the stuff of royal intrigue and celebrity drama. Among my own, I have confronted horrendous enemies, endured my noble kins treachery and malevolence, and honored my duty to conceive a royal heirall for the right to claim the throne.

I've read /listened to every book in this series and have enjoyed all of them, even this one, even though it lagged a bit for me (did she really have to have sex every time she saw one of her men????), but it was still worth the credit for me.

Mikael Blomkvist, crusading journalist and publisher of the magazine Millennium, has decided to publish a story exposing an extensive sex trafficking operation between Eastern Europe and Sweden, implicating well-known and highly placed members of Swedish society, business, and government. On the eve of publication, the two reporters responsible for the story are brutally murdered.

I couldn't download this one fast enough after Tattoo, and I was not disappointed. Lizbeth is one smart, tough cookie, and I am drawn to cheer for her, and want to protect her all at the same time. I truly hated for the book to end, but thankfully, there is a third in the series!

"I am Meredith, princess of faerie, wielder of the hands of Flesh and Blood, and at long last, I am with child twins, fathered by my royal guard. Though my uncle, Taranis, King of Light and Illusion, claims that he is the true father since he abducted me from my home, betrayed, and defiled me. And now he has branded my guards as a threat to my unborn children."

The Meredith Gentry series is defnitely my favorite of LKH, and Book 7 did not disappoint me. The narrator, however, was a bit unbelievable. Merdedith should not have an English accent. She was raised American.

Her name was Henrietta Lacks, but scientists know her as HeLa. She was a poor Southern tobacco farmer who worked the same land as her slave ancestors, yet her cells, taken without her knowledge, became one of the most important tools in medicine. The first immortal human cells grown in culture, they are still alive today, though she has been dead for more than 60 years.

Bravo to Rebecca Skloot and even more so to the Lacks family for trusting in her to tell their story in such a well written and loving manner when others had only taken advantage of and exploited them. It is hard for the layperson to understand where the personal story ends and the sicence begins, but this story lays it out in such a manner that grips you and draws you in, and refuses to let you stop listening until you've reached the end. This book is WELL worth the purchase and the time to listen - or to purchase and read. Don't pass this one up - especially if you've ever had a loved one suffer from an incurable disease.

Featuring David Sedaris's unique blend of hilarity and heart, this new collection of keen-eyed animal-themed tales is an utter delight. Though the characters may not be human, the situations in these stories bear an uncanny resemblance to the insanity of everyday life.

If you don't have a sense of humor, you're likely not to enjoy this one. Dark humor abounds in the animal world, and I found myself giggling more than once as I realized certain "animals" reminded me of certain people I know. Some were disappointed in their reviews that Sedaris did not do all of the narration for this book, but I say the narrators were perfect for the characters.

Why we think it’s a great listen: How do you one-up a book that’s already a global literary phenomenon? Hire Simon Vance to (flawlessly) interpret the loves, lives, and murders of Sweden’s cold and secret-filled world. A spellbinding amalgam of murder mystery, family saga, love story, and financial intrigue. It's about the disappearance 40 years ago of Harriet Vanger, a young scion of one of the wealthiest families in Sweden.

What did you love best about The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo?

I was completely obsessed with finishing this book once I started. At first I was unsure, but after the inital character set up, I couldn't stop listening. I listen during my daily commute, and found myself leaving early and driving slower just to get to listen more. Don't pass this one up!

If read with an open mind, the theories and the subject matter will most definitely make you think about the way we react to the world and other people. Lou Diamond Phillips' narration was very enjoyable.
