  • Misery

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 11 mins)
    • By Stephen King
    • Narrated By Lindsay Crouse

Thrown from the wreckage of his '74 Camaro, Paul Sheldon, author of a best-selling series of historical romances, wakes up one day in a secluded Colorado farmhouse owned by Annie Wilkes, a psychotic ex-nurse who claims she is his number one fan. Immobilized from the pain of two shattered legs and a crushed knee, Sheldon is at Annie's mercy.

Renee says: "Excellent narrator plus great source material"
    "A Great listen"

This was a great story with a great reader. If you like Stephen King, then this one will be worth it!

  • Orange is the New Black: My Year in a Women's Prison

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 14 mins)
    • By Piper Kerman
    • Narrated By Cassandra Campbell
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

With a career, a boyfriend, and a loving family, Piper Kerman barely resembles the reckless young woman who delivered a suitcase of drug money 10 years ago. But that past has caught up with her. Convicted and sentenced to 15 months at the infamous federal correctional facility in Danbury, Connecticut, the well-heeled Smith College alumna is now inmate #11187-424 - one of the millions of women who disappear "down the rabbit hole" of the American penal system.

Mark says: "My favorite book of the year, so far"
    "The audio was masterfull!"
What did you love best about Orange is the New Black?

The audio was great. I really loved the reader

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Left me not wondering about what happens next to the rich girl

What about Cassandra Campbell’s performance did you like?

Her inflections were great and she really made me feel like I was listening to Piper. She was really great.

If you could give Orange is the New Black a new subtitle, what would it be?

A rich girl breaks the law

    Any additional comments?

The whole book was just a long love letter to her boyfriend and family. It is a story about a rich girl who knowingly breaks the law and then used her pen to write about not only her love for her fiance but a litany of complaints about the judicial system. Her complaints fell on these deaf ears because she is a felon. A felon who chose to perform her crime(s). There was really nothing interesting that happened to her, while she only told us of all the good she did for others in prison. She was an angel in jail. Just so long as she can keep ON telling her boyfriend what an angel she was in prison - she has a reason to write this pretty boring book. I made it all the way through though. #phew

  • Gone with the Wind

    • UNABRIDGED (49 hrs and 7 mins)
    • By Margaret Mitchell
    • Narrated By Linda Stephens
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Literature, Margaret Mitchell's great novel of the South is one of the most popular books ever written. Within six months of its publication in 1936, Gone With the Wind had sold a million copies. To date, it has been translated into 25 languages, and more than 28 million copies have been sold. Here are the characters that have become symbols of passion and desire....

"One of the best listens at audible!!!"
What did you love best about Gone with the Wind?

The story was incredible. I have seen the movie a time or two. And I loved it. So, I decided to give this book a try. From the first few minutes of the reading I was sucked in. The story is different from the movie. It was deeper and more meaningful. The reading was A+++ I did whatever I could do to get my ear buds in and listen - again. Even Christmas shopping was more delightful. Get this one. If you are interested in a great love story, you will thoroughly enjoy this listen.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Gone with the Wind?

I think the moments when Atlanta fell. Scarlett whether she knew it or not(likely she did not) was saving the lives of others - with no payoff. She just did what was right, like them or not. She did it.

Which character – as performed by Linda Stephens – was your favorite?

Definitely Mrs Melly. or Rhett. Or Scarlett. Yes, it was Mrs. Melly.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Mrs. Melly's death. So much of what could have been good about Scarlett all those years, died with Mrs. Melly.

    Any additional comments?

I will listen to the novel again and again.....
