I really enjoyed the description of the Christmas feast.
This book is a tremendous recounting that provides gruesome insight into the details of the tragedy of slave life. Anyone with a conscience should read this to remind them how terrible humankind can be when we fail to do what is clearly right.
This is incredible journey with amazing detail that is a tribute to the research effort of the author.

I have a pretty open mind and thought this was a book I was "supposed" to read. However, it started getting a little 'preachy' at points and I rapidly became disenchanted. The last straw was when he started saying you are pretty much an idiot if you don't read the classics in the native tongue they were written in. Pretentious and condescending...
