This is a tale of sorrow, a tale of survival, a tale of one man's search for meaning in his universe, and how that search, and the indomitable will that drove it, gave birth to a legend.

What did you love best about The Name of the Wind?

The story is interesting. The main character is interesting. There are enough twists to keep you anxious.

    Any additional comments?

Like most books, this had parts that seemed to slow down though I didn't feel like I would need to put the story down because of it. Brandon Sanderson seems to be the only other that I have found that doesn't seem to drag the story out at all. Don't get me wrong, this was good and so was the sequel. I'm anxious to listen to the third.

What did you love best about Steelheart?

A very good book. Very interesting twist at the end that makes you jones for the next book... expect there isn't one.

This isn't 5 stars because no book that ends when you are just feeling like you are getting into it can ever be 5 stars. That doesn't mean I want 15 hours of filler. Just give me 15 hours a good story and i'll love you. 12 hours is not enough for a book. Its a short story.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

and leaves you hanging for 3 books. Hopefully the 4th does something fun or i'll have to put this one down forever. The reader struggles with multiple voices and fails at females entirely. Great voice for the hulking males but...

For nearly 2,000 years, only one Druid has walked the Earth - Atticus O’Sullivan, the Iron Druid, whose sharp wit and sharp sword have kept him alive as he’s been pursued by a pantheon of hostile deities. Now he’s got company. Atticus’ apprentice, Granuaile, is at last a full Druid herself. What’s more, Atticus has defrosted an archdruid long ago frozen in time, a father figure (of sorts) who now goes by the modern equivalent of his old Irish name: Owen Kennedy. And Owen has some catching up to do.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I'm not sure that I can complain about having multiple perspectives in a story but I absolutely love the straight forward, crass style of Atticus. I like the others but I want more from Atticus... its all about him. Love the story though. Shorter than they should be but at least they come out every year.

Where does The Ruins of Gorlan rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is a good book. The characters are endearing and John Flanagan writes in a way that will keep you interested. The only issue I have is the length of the book. These short stories that are being passed off as novels and still costing a full credit just has to stop. This reflects more on Audible then it does the author. If he wants to write a short story then so be it... Audible needs to stop charging a full credit for them though...

Would you listen to The Rithmatist again? Why?

Yes, because it was a really good story.

What about Michael Kramer’s performance did you like?

Michael Kramer is simply a great "story teller". There are people with more voices and such but he is very solid. I enjoy his reading.

    Any additional comments?

This is a four start only because I cannot rate any stand alone book as a 5 star. There just isn't enough time to get me addicted. If you like stand alone books then this is probably a 5 start to you.

Where does The Red Pyramid rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I enjoyed the story to be honest. There is a lot of Egyptian history and I found that very cool. The magic system, which is hugely important to me in this genre, was not well developed however and the male reader was difficult to listen to. Always seemed to add inflection where it was unnecessary and pause where he shouldn't. It was difficult to listen to at times.

Even with those complaints I did enjoy the story. I recommend the series to anyone interested in Egyptian history or a good story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sadi Kane - I loved the sass and arrogance and she was quite funny.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

The female was excellent but the male was difficult to listen to at times.
