To the consternation of the patrician, Lord Vetinari, a new invention has arrived in Ankh-Morpork - a great clanging monster of a machine that harnesses the power of all of the elements: earth, air, fire and water. This being Ankh-Morpork, it’s soon drawing astonished crowds, some of whom caught the zeitgeist early and arrive armed with notepads and very sensible rainwear.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Heartily recommend this book to anyone with a funny bone

What did you like best about this story?

PTerry always brings technology to the disc with a wonderfully slanted view. We learn a lot more about the patrician.

Have you listened to any of Stephen Briggs’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Stephen Briggs brings another excellent performance.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes, and I did.

    Any additional comments?

40th discworld book and PTerry just gets better and better. Well done Sir T.

Alien Day. The date was Friday, the third of August. For some people the day was just beginning, for others it was the ending in a perfectly normal way. Then right across the world every ground and airborne radar screen went haywire.… This time it had really happened. An alien spacecraft was in orbit around planet Earth. Nine weeks later, civilisation is on the edge of a breakdown more devastating than any nuclear war....

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes and I have done. This book set the genre.

What other book might you compare Fade Out to and why?

Any book where aliens try to set the world back a few technological steps, fade out did it first.

What does Evan Greenberg bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

A nice slow steady buildup in tension

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    yes

    Any additional comments?

I first read this years ago and loved it. A re-reading 20 years later didn't change it. Still loved it.
